Sometime yesterday, some kind soul posted a way to modify the .ini to make it so your pool characters all show up first before the random ones do. Unfortunately today I find there are hundreds of posts between now and then and I can't seem to find it. Can anyone please repost that info? Thanks.

Quick character creation question... What does the "Rookie" class mean vs choosing a class during creation? I'm new to XCOM.

It means they have no class, and cannot identify a dessert fork or a soup spoon. Also, they'll get some class once they've done some murders or five days of unbroken pull-ups. Edit: Joking aside, dunno what it means in terms of character creation from scratch.

I'd guess it means that your character would always show up as a rookie instead of having a chance to show as a pre-promoted character.

HondaCivet posted:Quick character creation question... What does the "Rookie" class mean vs choosing a class during creation? I'm new to XCOM. Okay so from my experience if you choose a class for someone who appears in your starting forces, that chosen class means nothing. You'll still get a random roll. However, if you later get them as an already leveled up character (usually as a reward), they'll show up as whatever you selected. Rookie means unclassed level 0 character who will then promote into one of the main classes.

Minor nitpick of the day: If that chip was implanted in the commander's Occipital Lobe...that's the back of the brain, right? So...why did the aliens and the doctor put it in/take it out from the front? That seems like remarkably poor brain surgery, even before considering the fact that it was done with Science Tweezers.

Any tips for performance? I have a 980ti and the game likes to randomly dip to single digit frames. Can still hit 60 with down sampling though. Very strange.

And when you autopsy the Advent Leader guy, it shows the data cord running out the back of his head. Hell, even the database entry on the leaders mentions the scar on the back of their skulls. I guess you could argue that they had to place it so the prongs went through the other parts of the brain, but in reality it's the only way to show the thing actually being pulled out

For the people asking about the cannon ending of xcom 1, it was said probably 40-50 pages ago or so. Xcom during the course of the first game was around long enough to shoot down a couple of UFOs (up to and including the supply ship your team uses in Xcom 2) before poo poo started going sour. An unnamed Council country pulls out and sells you out to the aliens before you're able to even invade the alien base. The EW X-Com Base Invasion happens basically at the end of the first month / month and a half at that point and absolutely crushes Xcom. You as the commander get captured, locked in a tank, and are basically forced to play XCom EW for the last 20 years as training simulations for their own men before you get yanked from the tank and Xcom 2 happens.

Minor mods needed: 1. For swords, when you kill a fleshy enemy, they shouldn't play their death animation until after the blade is fully re-sheathed 2. Also swords. Killing robotic enemies should be accompanied by RULES OF NATURE

Been playing around with an untimed mission and am disappointed to learn that the enemy AI is definitely using some ESP to direct the patrols. Wherever I send my squad the whole map shifts to patrol in their general direction. I've run it dozens of times, they follow me every time.

So I loaded my game this morning and of my custom soldiers, about 5 have somehow reset to default appearance. I have no idea how or why; if I load a game from the mission prior, their appearance is fine. But in my latest save, they lose the details I've given them and reverted to default. What the hell? Assuming this is a bug I can't do anything about... Is there any way to "load" or import a custom look onto an existing character from the pool, or do I have to remake them manually?

I feel like the experimental round types are tons better than grenades on almost everyone except the grenadier. The fire and poison rounds effectively add two damage, as they add one damage on the attack then one on the enemies turn. I prefer the poison rounds as there are lots of other methods for dealing with mech enemies. The randomness of the fire rounds in exchange for working on everything just doesn't seem worth it. This means a rookie that hits a advent captain will routinely kill them in one turn, and always kill a grunt.
