So with Psi Troopers, can they only be trained from rookies? Or can you 'demote' an experienced solder to psion?

You can also take the skill that allows you to reposition after a kill so assuming you use the blade for a kill (and get it) you don't end up up the rear end of that guys pod. Autoloaders exist to eliminate any delay from reloading if you happen to not have a single action to reload at any point, and shotguns will always have room for them. I don't know when the hell you need to yellow move and attack multiple turns running. Reaper competes with Rapid Fire, which is a terrible shame; Reaper requires you to do some serious softening of a bunch of dudes to get real mileage out of it, while Rapid Fire ensures whatever you're attacking is dead. Implacable works with shotguns and is likely to get you to a safer spot because you didn't have to go into melee anyway. On Commander, I had plenty of cores for all the special ammo I ever wanted, since it's only one core per special ammo project and you can reuse the insanely powerful ammo you get from them endlessly.

Although that would be a weird XCOM game, with a human antagonist. Still, I don't trust that guy. The screen brightens and contorts to reveal that he was an alien himself, all along, using humanity as their pawn to weaken the Ethereal Empire and overthrow them. In the next game, you can get Sectoid recruits and poo poo as you band together with the alien remnant to fight the new transdimensional threat.

I'm only up two ammo, two grenades, and one exo suit, with one special weapon (probably a waste on that one but I wanted to see what I could get besides the Rocket Launcher), and only one core remaning that I'm keeping in reserve. All that by the time I've just filled out my T3 weapon set. And I've only gotten two autoloaders, which compete pretty heavily between Sharpshooters, Grenadiers, and Rangers.

LightWarden posted:Aggro works very similarly to how it works in XCOM 1- if you see them or they see you they scatter into cover or overwatch depending on the enemy and will be active on the next turn. Murdering or at least corralling them before their next turn comes up will prevent them from screwing you over on their turn. Note that just like Xcom 1, when aliens run for cover they rarely put themselves in a bad or flanked position, even from troops they shouldn't technically know are there. With concealment you may be tempted to try a pincer style move: seems easy if they can't see you coming right? Don't bother, you will hardly ever have them blunder into a free flank. There are places where the AI cheats, and movement is the biggest one. When thinking about position for setting up a concealment ambush, assume that they will move to good cover and concentrate more on getting the most shots above anything else. Splitting up your guys can at most herd them *away* from a place with full cover and into more half cover -- which might be quite valuable if there's more x-rays than you can kill in one round of overwatch fire! But don't put your guys into inferior cover to do it.

Haha remember last time when I said I had a feeling the other shoe was just waiting to drop, well Jesus Christ this game is going to turn my hair grey, it is sheer stress incarnate. I'm low on supplies, the Avatar project was like four bars away so I had to ignore a dark mission that's going to cut all my supplies in half next month in favor of stopping one that would gain another Avatar bar, I was down to three active soldiers because rookies have no loving health and if they get grazed for 3 damage that's still a greivous goddamn wound and they're in the hospital for three loving weeks or whatever so I had to plow the few supplies I had into getting cannon fodder so now even though I just researched magnetic weapons I can only afford one shotgun and nothing else, there's a blacksite in loving Brazil and I started in North America and all my drat resource contacts are maxed out so I'm getting there no time soon, the world is actively ending all around me and I need to be in six places at once and aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaah Jane Kelly is carrying the survival of the human race solely on her shoulders right now. Thank God she's around to just sword the gently caress out of everything.

The exact implementation has some flaws -- things like not giving an extra turn in a map where the distance between objectives is extra large. I really encourage you to eventually try it again, if and when you feel like the game is rolling over for you. Okay then. I didn't expect the government to respond to these terrorist attacks, but now I'm proven wrong.

Yeah I honestly have no clue why they got a move there. It was definitely the first time I saw them. They came in from the fog, shot my ranger, and then failed to poke her. Would of pissed me off if she died to that. ...of course she died anyways. Something I just learned; faceless can blow up cars with their swipes. So don't take cover behind cars in terror missions if a civilian is anywhere near one. On a lighter note, my other ranger panicked upon seeing the death and took a blindfire at a muton that somehow critted and killed it from full health.

Man the literal free movement that can sometimes be as far as a full dash that you get out of the spider armor is absolutely amazing. I had a ranger rescue 3 civilians in one action doing that, while everyone else was able to wait around in case of faceless. I really hope there's a lategame armor that still gives you that free movement action like the spider.

I've even got rookie guns outfitted with Scopes and Laser Sights just in the odd chance they get pushed out the door for an Avenger defense mission. Amount of loot isn't a problem, just cores, non-Will based PCS, and anything besides sights and scopes (and the instant kill chance one, which has been surprising helpful when you're loading out 4-5 soldiers per mission with one). I've at least got the two autoloaders, I've had only one magazine cap, and all of those are the first tier.
