The pendulum of the mind alternates between sense and nonsense
I picked downtown LA since I figured that's probably a pretty expensive place to live, being that you are among movie stars and so on.

http://www.thelorenzo.com/floorplans/#/da-vinci

This is the first apartment building I looked at. Your rent is $1000/month in a big gorgeous apartment you definitely don't deserve. You need about twice that in income in order to afford to live there, so that's $24,000 per year. Or, $12 an hour.

If you wanted something nicer even than that, or a car, extra money for stuff you don't need then earn more than $12 an hour or live in a cheaper location.

Ok so someone (with $70k in student loans) gets a job at the one employer in the area (factory) for $30k and buys a small terrible older house for $100k, trapping them in the area, now the employer moves to a right to work state to save money by paying less, the one employer is gone and the house is worth less than the mortgage in a jobless area now what

They move back in with mom that's what.

OR they could just STAY with mom and have more money in the bank (and not lose a [small, terrible] house) which a lot are doing

That's certainly quite a scenario, where someone gets a degree from what would be one of the premier public universities in the country given that cost and goes on to get a job as minimum-wage handle puller.

Or they go to a trade school to be an HVAC specialist or plumber or diesel/A&P mechanic or something and make significantly more paying significantly less- the dude in your scenario must be a primo dumbass or lives in Santa Monica.

That's student housing you dingus, and considering you live with 3 other people it's more like $4,000 a month.

1,500-2,000 German frauleins hosed tonight by the kebab fueled penises of just arrived middle-eastern and African migrants. Inside taxpayer funded, four star accommodation.

Then imagine how many indigenous German males there must be sitting in their beds alone in darkened rooms, watching episodes of Naruto and wearing headphones plugged in their laptops.

Goodbye Germany. Just bye.

 you really think being a plumber or a dude who works on A/C units is going to have really hosed up health vs some office monkey sitting in a chair for 8 hours a day who is probably doughy anyway? Do you worry about your eye/posture health for being on the computer most of the day?

Yes everyone should pack up and move to LA, everyone, also jobs that pay $12 an hour all offer steady 40 hours a week and not 20-30 hours a week with open hours that prevent you having a second (or third) job, a car is an absolute necessity there so double that monthly expense (while halving that income available) FORGET health insurance, neighborhoods in LA are all SUPER safe and comfortable, all of them, yes,

Or save that $2000-$3000 a month for several years of your youth and stay home near friends/family/support systems which quite a few are doing, as was once the norm, seems like?

Or maybe their middle class mom and dad earn nice incomes and they have all the game consoles in the basement and all their friends are home with mom too and they go out and have fun like kids while figuring out what to do next with their career, you know, they career they trained for, instead of competing in blue collar trades that don't have any more openings than they did necessarily, and like the oil fields have employment boom/bust cycles just like white collar work,

Cuts, electrocutions, other subcontractors firing a nailgun next to your head while you work, hearing loss from of construction equipment next to your ear, arthritis in both shoulders by age 30, respiratory problems from breathing in attics full of torn fiberglass and animal poo poo, being mauled by a raccoon when you pop an attic hatch and are face to face with it.

That was a hell of a job. With this office job I just make sure to sit straight and go to the gym, I'm not hurting anymore.

I like hate reading couples travel blogs. This one is pretty great.

And we’re okay with being “abnormal”. Especially if it means we get to travel more than the typical 2-weeks per year.

Yeah you're pretty abnormal but only in the sense that you have all your teeth, and have never had to flee from an advancing war lord.

There’s something utterly addicting about travel. It’s like nicotine, but more expensive. Though it’s probably a little better for our lungs.

My dad was an HVAC technician and came out of it with severe wrist damage that he had to sue his employer over for workers comp. A few of his coworkers died from electrical things and falling off of high ladders.

My current millennial experience is working two jobs and going to grad school full time. My mom's great but I'm glad I don't have to live with her.

Also I don't have a ps4 so that sucks.
