I haven't really messed around with the AWC yet, how does the skill training thing work? Do I have to have a unit assigned to the building when they get promoted to learn a rando skill? Because that kinda sounds like a pain to juggle.

Difficult Retaliation -> Very Difficult Supply Raid while the Avatar clock is ticking. Fortunately I haven't hit the blacksite yet so if too many dudes get mauled on the supply raid I can just whack that instead of a Facility.

The avatar installations have pips next to them. What do they represent? The amount I'd set back the avatar project by, or something else? I can see what enemies are at each and some seem a little easier than others. One I can assault has 1 pip and one has 5.

Man even if I had more than a 48% chance to not gently caress it up, hacking has been laughably useless so far. Oh boy, 48% chance to turn a scanner off (that turns off when I enter combat anyway) and a 1% at +2 vision or a 50% twice as many enemies for the rest of the mission! What a treat!

Exo suits might be completely ripped from Edge of Tomorrow, but that's okay because they're baller as gently caress. Also I like giving my ranger a shotgun and a suit with an even bigger shotgun.

Alternatively, some of the lamp posts can literally give you an immediate extra turn, mind control every single enemy mechanized unit on the map for several turns, or make your entire squad immune to several attacks. What rewards show up is pretty RNG but the powerful ones are game changingly strong.

I got a heavy with deep cover, hunker down as long as they dont shoot and a sniper with covering fire, activate overwatch when enemies shoot. I haven't been able to use snipers good at all on legend. To level up you need to bring them on timed missions but a sniper cant move and shoot making them kinda gimp. With pistols are trying to rely on a 3 dmg weapon when I need to be hitting 5+. I tried gunslinger it was pretty bad because they have to get shot to activate return fire, lightning hands is pretty cool a free pistol shot but its kinda worthless. Hacking is the only thing I don't like in the game so far. Even with absolutely zero hack rewards, an upgraded skulljack and an upgraded gremlin will make higher level specialists able to ~80% most second tier rewards and 60% the third tier. You won't be doing things like reliably hacking sectopods without upgrades but you can absolutely get consistent rewards from mission objectives and lamp posts without a single hack reward as your equipment improves.

You get a guaranteed 2 pistol shots per turn baseline; Lightning Hands pumps it to 3 every few turns; you get the shoot everyone in sight skill and the "fire three shots at one dude" skill to round it out. It adds up to a ton of damage. When you get ammo to put on them they get nuts, you're poisoning, burning, or shredding depending what ammo you go with several times per turn. ' I think my pistol sharpshooter has more kills than the rest of my A-team put together.

I want to know if the game will get harder or if I'm in the endgame. Equipment wise: I have t3 everything, and the lategame enemies I encounter are: archon (angels), gatekeeper (1 per mission max so far), sectopod, advanced mech, elite troopers/shield/captains/lancers, crysalid, codex, codex avatar, andromedan, muton, berserker, then the poo poo tier stuff like snakemen and sectoids and faceless.

I'm considering buying this, so I'd like to know how buggy is this one? I got the first game on launch and it was preeeetty buggy and iirc was patched in a very casual pace. Here's a bunch of followup questions: Can you sneak up on enemies this time around? They no longer get a free turn when you encounter them? Can I have more sensible loadouts now, or do I still have to choose between stungun and medpack or whatever the first game had? Is soldier class assignment still completely random?

This game is information overload in the beggining, which is odd because I felt XCom 1 was perfect. I don't know what i'm supposed to do or what. Am I supposed to go on missions in between the things that say 4 Days etc on the map? Also the game looks amazing yet horrid at the same time. I'm playing on medium but the map feels sparse and the effects look bad but the models look amazing. Wish they tilted the scales a little differently with settings.
