Someone tell me they got something good out of one of these things, please.

I got 34 crates, and I'm pretty sure that at least 10 of the things in those crates are worth 1m+, and some are worth at least 3-4 maybe more depending on how far this stuff craters.

Keep in mind that even old bronze poo poo you can't get any more at all so it's going to be worth something to someone looking to fill out a collection tab to settle down their OCD or just people who picked up the game more recently and weren't even around when the stuff came out, etc. Your crates probably weren't totally worthless even if some of the stuff looks like it might be.

And another way to look at it, if they weren't gamble boxes, they'd be moderately worthless bronze armor chunks that sell for 30k on the GTN so I think the chance of having this stuff be worth millions instead of nothing is a pretty solid improvement. Based on some previous hypercrates where you could have had the same thing happen but get 30 spare supplementary armor boxes that nobody wants to buy... at least this is a shot to get something you like.

That sounds reasonable enough but after buying 5 crates and getting 9 chance cubes and 1 lightsaber crystal out of it it still kind of feels like I made the wrong call.

Often harder on Player 2

Hahahahaha hell yeah. I did notice in that area there was something like 20+ hostile NPCs but there were about 20 players as well so I just figured the area was some kind of... massive brawl? I guess they spawn when you click the item and don't despawn if they evade or something.

PS: gently caress Bioware for making another item that only one player can click and it's necessary for the story. Dozens of people crowding round one clickable item furiously mashing the right click.

PPS: Chapter X sucks

Haha. Yeah I know that spot.

The thing is that if you're on that quest and just get near the quest item, it spawns a bunch of security to stop you from clicking on that quest item. So instead of somebody clicking on a quest item, then some mobs show up, as soon as somebody gets near the quest item, a bunch of mobs show up to try to stop them from clicking on a quest item.

So it's not hard see how if 20 people are all trying to do the same quest at the same time, it becomes a clusterfuck of rapidly respawning mobs. Once I realized that they they just kept respawning every time someone showed up, I just walked over and clicked on the quest item, then I went on my way. Really poorly thought out quest design there.

Yup, don't like the new chance cubes. It's not fun to get a new hypercrate and only get 50% new stuff. I'm soooo happy that 8 of these chance cubes had crappy yellow/brown/beige dyes in them and the other ones had stuff I already had.

The whole point of hypercrates, to me at least, is getting a shot at the new stuff. Now I only have a 50% shot on top of the inherent gambling of the thing.

1/10 would not get again.

I honestly didn't even get 50% on my Hypercrate. 30 packs and I got 1 mount (Swamp Rancor), 2 of the Vibroblades, 1 Hawkeye yellow crystal, and a few miscellaneous boxes of the new armor (no complete sets).

At least the chance cubes SHOULD lower the price of some older items.

Oh, I forgot to say, one of the chance cube had the casino slot machine deco in it. You know, they one they had forgotten to put in a previous pack and they gave away for 1 credit? The one I already have 50 of 50 of? That one.

I'd support a lower priced hypercrate with nothing but chance cubes in it. That way you can gamble on getting some of the older, rarer, items. They suck when mixed with new crates.

Open up your Legacy screen (default key: Y) and look under GLOBAL UNLOCKS - Other. It's the third item under CONVENIENCE: Rocket Boost, Improved Rocket Boost I, Improved Rocket Boost II. It's a legacy unlock so you only need to buy it once to unlock it on all your toons, including every new character you create in the same legacy.

I was talking to a friend who bought a hypercrate last night and had the same complaint about chance cubes that everybody else had, and I had this same thought. A chance cube is not a bad idea in general, but it shouldn't be mixed into new packs. I think a hypercrate of all random old stuff would be fun, and might be a good solution to their ongoing problem of "wtf do we do with old stuff."

But seriously, when a new pack comes out with lots of cool new stuff in it, people want the new stuff! Anything from an old pack, unless you are brand new to the game, you probably got it already if you really cared. If it's something really rare, it's still gonna be really rare, so it's not much of an incentive to gamble for it.

I'm really interested in almost everything from this new pack, and had fully intended to buy at least one hypercrate yesterday, but I changed my mind. I like this game, I'm happy to support the people making it, and I'm totally OK with spending some money for a chance at the cool new stuff, but I am not OK with spending money for a chance at a chance at the cool new stuff. That's one too many layers of uncertainty.

I really don't want to be that guy who's like pissy at Bioware and saying they lost a customer, but in this case, it's true. I fully intended to spend money on the game last night, possibly quite a bit of money, and I completely changed my mind.

On the bright side, that HK jetpack is pretty rad. Nice flourish animation.

Having healed as Merc/Sorc/Operative off and on since release Operative/Scoundrel is easily my favorite pve and a close runner up to Sorc/sage PvP. There's something fun about doing your damnedest not to waste a single GCD bc Diagnostic Scan is still super useful combined with insane AoE output during stack phases.

I know nonentity is on the art side but if you have any contact at all with whoever is making decisions for the cartel packs, I have to agree with everyone else. Don't put the god drat "old poo poo" chance cubes in new packs, especially with a chance to take over a slot for new stuff. I understand the money grubbing whaling expedition idea they're going for, but the cartel crates have always been pretty decent in terms of getting stuff and this new direction really sours me on spending money for them.

I'm happy to plunk out for a hypercrate of new stuff each time but if they're going to ruin the chances to get new stuff it makes me wonder why I bother to do it.

The only thing they need to change is make it a 50% chance on the 2nd item in the pack, not from both. The idea itself is pretty solid. Just go back and look at any hypercrate you've bought since 4.0 and you'll see that all of the bronze armor is 100% worthless and most of it doesn't even look worth wearing.

Totally fine getting 30 extra shots at something I can sell or use that isn't lovely bronze level armor packs. I mean I used a Snowtrooper set of armor JUST FOR HOTH because it was worth about 60k for the entire set on the GTN and why sell it when it's basically garbage?
