FYI if you have a truly hosed up situation you can press P and put an evac zone where you want it, then ditch the mission reward. This is only disabled on council missions. It sucks not countering dark events or retaliations of course, but way less than losing your A-Team plus all their single use gear.

Hey, I've been avoiding the hype and m reading the thread so I that I can play through mostly blind but I have a quick question that I can't really test myself due to being in desperate circumstances with Avatar. How are psi soldiers leveled up? I mean, I know they have to go through the psi lab to gain abilities, and that they can eventually gain all the psi abilities though it takes a while, but I was wondering how they do the standard leveling up thing, the boost to willpower and health, etc? Is it only by having them sit in the psi lab that they get stronger or will they level up from combat and just not gain any abilities Edit: also, is psi power attached to will like in EW or is it just solely an independent stat now? Wondering if I should attach one of those psi mods to my psi trooper.

Harrow posted:According to Wizard Styles it's retroactive if you retrain your soldiers (but also soldiers aren't guaranteed to get a perk either). Or is that what you meant? As I understand it, when you build the AWC, the game determines for each soldier on your roster if they get a hidden ability, what it is, and at what level they get it. The last part is the issue here since there's no "wait this guy's a Captain maybe he should get his ability at Major or Colonel and not Corporal" kind of check in there. So soldiers can miss out by virtue of having already passed the rank at which they would have gotten their bonus ability. And building the AWC will never give someone who is already at Colonel a hidden ability, because by default it doesn't work retroactively Retraining gets around that because it lets soldiers go through their level-ups again, though, so they get their hidden ability then if they have one at all. Kind of dumb but ultimately it's only 5 days per soldier.

Has anyone else noticed pods activating unexpectedly when breaking concealment? A couple of times now I've been in visual range of a first pod, with eyes on a second pod through a ranger with phantom (actually, a specialist who rolled phantom through the AWS, but whatever). I've set up an ambush of the first pod with troops positioned such that none of them have line of sight to the second pod. However, upon executing the ambush, both pods activate, even though the only troop who can see the second pod is the one in concealment with phantom. Concealment never breaks on the ranger, but the second pod still activates. It's happened to me at least twice now, so I don't think it's a result of the second pod seeing one of my other dudes.

There's a lot of los bugs already, and using concealment on a ranger with other pods seems to exacerbate them. I've seen some really weird poo poo using snipers, using hacks and cancelling them - one game I had an inactive pod where one muton in the group would occasionally shoot at my troops - but they never actually activated.

I'm not sure what exactly unlocked it, but I had always wondered why they were called Gatekeepers, because I'd been fighting them for some time before I actually did the mission where I found the gate and fought the "first" Gatekeeper. I'd also murdered the first Avatar by the time I saw the gate, too. e: haha, holy poo poo, ten pages since I refreshed. Sorry.
