FWIW the documentary is coming from the angle of a real actress cast to play Christine in a series traveling to the city where it happened and investigating so she can faithfully portray the role. Not simply an investigation of the case by the filmmaker alone. So I would imagine there is some focus on the process of an actor portraying a real person in addition to Chubbuck's life and suicde. Oh yes. But I'm hoping that she may have gotten some insight through her research as to what may have happened. That being said, I'm prepared for it to fall a little flat of that goal, but still a fascinating doc to watch. The film looks decent too.

The worst part of it was that he said when he first smashed her in the back of the head she started apologizing because she thought she did something wrong. I had to stop for a bit when I got to that point because all I could think of was my niece and I was shaking I was so mad and upset. That was one of the hardest reads I've ever gone through.

In the early 90s he testified before congress how pedophiles openly used AOL chat rooms to discuss their hobby and trade pics. Because dialup back then charged per hour these guys were racking up monthly bills in the thousands so AOL turned a blind eye on it until the congressional hearings embarrassed them.

I just listened to a podcast a out this that was awesome! It's episode 35 of Reply All, the second half of the episode but I really like this podcast (sometimes it's dumb as hell, but whatever), so I'd recommend listening to it all.

Call Me Lucky is a really good documentary, the AOL stuff really hits home how little large corporations care about people versus money. Hearing Crimmins' story from himself and his sister was loving soul-crushing though, if anyone plans to watch it, go in knowing you're gonna get hit with some heavy, uncomfortable things.

What sleep he does get isn't restful, and he is basically always tired. It's always seemed very strange to me because as far as I can tell from lying next to him every night for the last five years, he is very much asleep. He snores, talks in his sleep, and is definitely unresponsive if I try to talk to him or whatever. From my perspective, he really doesn't seem to get any less sleep than me or any seemingly normal person--but it seems like pretty much every day he complains about lack of sleep and having a terrible night. I started doing a little research, and apparently there is a little-understood sleep disorder known as pseudoinsomnia, or sleep state misperception. Basically, even though a person is actually, physically asleep, they perceive that they are lying awake in bed all night long. This condition was basically considered a form of hypochondria, but recent research has analyzed different brain wave patterns in pseudoinsomniacs, and it seems as though their brains will produce alpha waves (brain waves associated with being awake) during the deeper parts of sleep. So even though they are technically asleep, their brains trick them into thinking they are awake. This seems to also manifest in the physical symptoms of fatigue during the day. I'm not sure if this is actually what is wrong with my husband (my other bet would be sleep apnea based on the snoring), but he also refuses to go to a sleep clinic so who knows. FWIW he also claims his (pseudo)insomnia started when he was about 19-20 and thinks it might have coincided with taking some sketchy ecstasy.

Yet I have no memory of sleep-related trauma or any causes I can think of that would lead to having multiple sleep disorders, nor do I wake up feeling anything less than fully rested (although I tend to have poor sleep habits during the work week.) My fiancée just has to deal with the fact I act like a drunk oaf at an Eagles concert nearly every night. God bless her.

I'm ridiculously forgetful & easily distracted and I just couldn't imagine doing it but by the sounds if it I'd be the ideal sort of person. Ironically it's my kid is always making fun of how forgetful I can be guess she's lucky I'm not as bad as she thinks.
