(it's called darkmultiplayer iirc) Squad has also stated that they want to add a multiplayer mode as a long term goal, but there's no timeframe on it and it's more of a wish list item

I intentionally started a base defense in XCOM2 and wow it's kinda good for farming up levels for everyone if you can destroy the disruptor really fast and get everyone back to the ramp and just teabag every group that drops in. Pfft, like advanced mechs are worth a poo poo when they run into a wall of overwatch fire from 4 turrets and a huge pile of my troops because you keep getting reinforcements.
