oldpainless posted:Is Daylight worth 7.50 on the PS4? Daylight is worth no money. It's basically a polished up version of those run-around-and-collect-poo poo games like Slenderman except with randomly generated levels which means huge, featureless mazes while monsters chase you. Oh and a disembodied voice that taunts you with Pink Floyd lyrics. The game's one highlight was Twitch integration that let the audience generate spooky noises. It's also 90 minutes long. Maybe twice that if you're going for all the trophies.

What was the name of the game that had a really insanely HD trailer where you woke up in a modern house with a big loving mess, like pizza boxes and beer cans all over the place, and there were spooky noises ? It was first person and I think the character picked up a knife at some point? I saw the link in this thread, I hope someone knows what I'm talking about.

It's basically a game about Henry and Delilah. The entire focus is their interactions (with great voice acting and writing) and how the player can change its development. If you go in knowing to expect that instead of a surprise Amnesia-style horror game, you'll enjoy it.

There's a lot of similarities to Gone Home in both style and execution as well as the misconception that it would turn into horror at any point. But Firewatch is more direct and linear in its storytelling and benefits from it more.

Firewatch is really short and kinda disappointing. Well made though, cute story (if a bit far fetched).

Nightcry looks like it'll either be forgotten about immediately or become a Deadly Premonition cult sleeper. I can't tell yet but it certainly seems more genuine and sincere than yet-another-first-person scarecam fest (no offense to Layers of Fear which actually looks pretty original in theme).

And amazingly it's not hot poo poo; granted the models and movement were a bit stiff, but the idea and the horror is there. Also it's got this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TYsZSqxcs6I&t=1107s I kickstartr'd this and haven't been looking at the updates. I know I mustn't get my hopes up for another Deadly Premonition but oh boy was that clip you posted fantastic.

Man, I wanna watch some gameplay video of Rides with Strangers, but trying to find it without some self absorbed fucktard screaming over it in the corner is near impossible. I hate not being able to find game footage of horror games anymore.

I wonder when we'll next get footage for Allison Road. Really high on that project since the initial video for it creeped me out with "I CAN SEE YOU."

4 is far and away the most overrated Silent Hill game. It has some cool ideas but it squanders all of them and its a slog to play.

How is SH 4 overrated? The only game in the series less liked is Homecoming. Or Origins I guess, if anyone remembers that exists.

People pretty much had the same complaints when it came out, and it was long regarded the weakest Silent Hill. What happened is that they kept making Silent Hill games.

It's certainly the worst of the Team Silent games but I don't know if it can be considered overrated since I remember tons of people hating it when it came out. I actually don't think it's that awful but the beginning is annoying and you never really feel like it was worth it to persevere past that. It's still better than every Silent Hill game that came after it. edit: sup guys

A lot of people absolutely despise it despite it being wholly unremarkable. It has some great ideas such as everything that happens in the apartment through the game but also a lot of really bad ideas. A lot of people treat it like the absolute worst and completely unplayable or whatever but in actuality it's just an unremarkable silent hill game.

The second half of the game being an escort mission and it going to a Resi style limited inventory killed it for me, I could have coped with the unkillable ghosts and backtracking otherwise.
