I wish I could find pictures from Time-Life's similar book series Mysteries of the Unknown because there were some more pics like the The Faces of Belmez that were pretty freaky, but all I can find are pics of the covers But have the commercial that would come on randomly during after school cartoons when I was a kid, making me feel dread and uncertainty as a nine year old: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ftFwtwMKLe0

That reminds me of another commercial for a book or video series I saw a lot in the 90's. I can't remember the name of it, but it was a similar theme. The only thing I remember is that at one point it describes the "Face of Mars." With only that but of detail to go on, I haven't been able to re-find that commercial.

Basking sharks, like most whales, are terrifyingly huge but pretty much harmless due to their diet consisting of small plankton consumed through filter feeding. Its literally impossible for them to swallow larger prey. VVV Okay there are more toothed whales than baleen ones, but most of the really big whales have baleen. That's not to say sperm whales don't exist though. Internet Kraken has a new favorite as of 08:07 on Feb 20, 2016 |

Basking sharks are very similar to whales but are fish instead of mammals. They and whale sharks are shaped like sharks and are, in fact, fish but behave more like whales.

Still, I never use that smillie so it was nice to crack it out I guess. Choco1980 posted:How do basking sharks "filter" their food? They appear to have the second biggest, widest, most accommodating mouth in nature... They have "gill rakers" lining their gills. That filters out the krill and plankton from the water, which later gets expelled down their gullet.
