LOL Three things stand out in this: 1. Cats love bodychecking toddlers. 2. Kids need to learn the warning signs that the cat is done playing with them (twitchy tail, pulled back ears, growl). 3. A lot of those kids deserved the cat attacks.

I don't know if I've been incredibly lucky or something but of all the cats I've owned they've never smelled bad enough or been dirty enough for me to intervene by giving them a bath.

If you develop cat allergies, regular kitty baths can go a long way towards keeping the cat from needing to be rehomed. Mine have had regular baths their whole lives - they're not jumping for joy over it, but they don't mind.

My significant others have always handled the gross parts of cat ownership since they did the cat acquiring. I got the mostly good bits of cat petting and such without the hassle. Except one Thanksgiving with a "totally weaned" kitten where I had to handle the milk warming and butt wiping since she was in Arizona with her fams. That was horrible. Kittens are just terrible and should be left with their mothers to be possibly eaten.

One of my roommates just bathed a cat a little while ago. The sounds coming from the bathroom sounded like a large man being tortured. The cat is really old and frail, but he can really yell. Wish I'd recorded it.

I read an article a while ago that posited that a cat's grooming instincts come from trying in vain to keep itself clean.
