the debit based swipe and pin thing nz has is good with extremely low monthly fee to the merchant (flat $13.50) and nothing on top of that
and it's extremely fast like a swipe with the card and the prompt for pin comes up instantly afterwards with no delay at all, probably because it doesn't have to go through visa's server or whatever

pretty much every single shop in nz uses it, including in the middle of no where ones with the merchant using a cellular based pos

but if you really prefer credit card then you can still swipe your card on the exact same eftpos machine and select credit
