THC posted:idk, maybe in your country debit cards are not mainly used by people who don't qualify for credit or can't be responsible with it. i've never been and it's extremely fast like a swipe with the card and the prompt for pin comes up instantly afterwards with no delay at all, probably because it doesn't have to go through visa's server or whatever pretty much every single shop in nz uses it, including in the middle of no where ones with the merchant using a cellular based pos but if you really prefer credit card then you can still swipe your card on the exact same eftpos machine and select credit DaNzA fucked around with this message at 07:43 on Feb 17, 2016 |

MacRumors comments are as braindead as expected.quote:Apple should simply design there software (both the lockout and the unlocking) in special ways that prevent missuse/abuse. How about it requiring a bespoke piece of hardware encased in concrete that weighs 50 tonnes and is only present in a few secure locations in the world?

Apple doesn't want user data and designs their systems so that they don't have access to it. it this was a newer phone with a Secure Element what the fbi is asking for would have been impossible.

yeah. privately they are discussing the muti-key based access the NSA already has and how they can get the resulting data to the FBI without people figuring out how they got it

y'all even read what the FBI wants? they're trying to get around the brute force restrictions on iPhone pass codes it looks like. i somehow doubt android or winpho even have that, especially at the level of apple

isn't there a lego robot you can build for like $300 that can brute force pin codes
