One of the first things to break off it is the loving stupid landing skids, making it impossible to land, which in turn makes it impossible to repair, get into, or get out of.

This is good design.

They'll continue to be conspicuously nice to her and cater to her wishes because "hey, she has a goon boyfriend who posts in this thread - that could be me!"
