the best thing i get out of this is how the SC community thinks SA is composed of nothing but 100% SC haters and trolls, and forgets it's one lovely thread in a cesspool of green and brown and think this forum is irrelevant

Something deja vu-ish in my head of late, finally figured it out. I've seen a lot of the Citizen thought process before in audiophiles. Talk of "fidelity", acceptance of stupid expenses for imaginary benefits, hardware porn, the posturing by the whales - it all fits. I just paid $15,000 for machine park of audio equipment - gold cables (none of that gold-plated poo poo lol), electrostatic speakers, laserdisc player, amp, receivers, the works Uh, cool I guess. What you gonna listen to? Huh? Oh, some Eric Clapton and Dire Straits I guess I wonder how many SC whales are audiophiles as well

I'd contend that the move into everything digital has made audiophiles even worse. Exhibit A: http://www.bit-tech.net/news/hardware/2012/03/26/wiredream-silver-sata/1 Exhibit B: http://arstechnica.co.uk/gadgets/2015/07/gallery-we-tear-apart-a-340-audiophile-ethernet-cable-and-look-inside/

I've only been following this thread since around page 1700, so apologies if this has been mentioned before, but something that bugs me is the constant insistence that 'all money goes towards development of the game', which although technically correct, could include the top management paying themselves outrageous salaries ($1 million per annum each for example), the possibility of money being spent on shady 'consultants', what seems to me to be an overly-complicated network of companies in various legal/financial jurisdictions (making following the money tricky), and I can see numerous ways of siphoning off millions of dollars while still being able to say that 'all money goes towards development of the game'. This is all guesswork on my part, I have no proof and am not saying that this IS what's happening, but it would explain why CIG are so reluctant to release any financials

I think it's pretty much assumed that they are taking a sizable chunk for themselves and their friends. Probably expected to spend far less on developing the game than they have accounted for while drawing huge salaries as well. "The backers will never know" and all that. Can they even be held personally liable when this finally goes tits up and jank rear end squad 42: chapter 7 bankruptcy edition is all that's released?

If there's one kind of shitposting we should discourage it's the "buuuhhh threadd sux close thread" thing It's more annoying than Derek's copyright teachings Ponzi posted:I've only been following this thread since around page 1700, so apologies if this has been mentioned before, but something that bugs me is the constant insistence that 'all money goes towards development of the game', which although technically correct, could include the top management paying themselves outrageous salaries ($1 million per annum each for example), the possibility of money being spent on shady 'consultants', what seems to me to be an overly-complicated network of companies in various legal/financial jurisdictions (making following the money tricky), and I can see numerous ways of siphoning off millions of dollars while still being able to say that 'all money goes towards development of the game'. This is a good point. I mean, when it came out Sandi had used CIG resources for stuff for her actress career she claimed she had paid for it herself. Like, how?

Per Eightace, they extract money by starting up lots of companies with people at the top owning stock, then have CIG buy it out Probably learned a lot from the Gizmondo experience. If the Elmses, Robertses and Freyermuth came out of that shitheap not smelling of feces, they'll either manage this one great as well - or they've become overconfident and begun making stupid mistakes. My bet is they'll never have to answer for any of it
