Doctor Malaver posted:It's a montage of characters and scenes from the Polish politics on some Japanese anime music and with words in Japanese characters. So it doesn't make sense if you are neither Polish nor Japanese. To dispel some of the confusion, it's the opening to a fairly popular amine about good peeps entrenching in their cities against some amine monsters that want to eat them because evil. [edit] about plucky little Poland besieged by Jews and vegans.

-Troika- posted:The Russian military-industrial complex today seems focused mostly around creating fancy toys that they can't actually afford to use and that no one wants to buy. It's seemed mostly inert to me. I haven't seen anything particular interesting come out of their MIC. Even the Armata just seems like a typical modern tank, but with a weird gimmick. Don't get me wrong, the stuff they made in the '70s through '90s or so is still very strong design-wise, but their military and procurement seems a mess since the breakup.

Don't get me wrong, the stuff they made in the '70s through '90s or so is still very strong design-wise, but their military and procurement seems a mess since the breakup. The Armata came out a generation too late. If it came out in the early 2000s when they were pushing the Black Eagle and the T-95 prototypes, it probably would have been worth something. The only recent military stuff that's come out of Russia has been their small arms, but even then, the AK-12 is just another Kalashnikov outside of some ergonomic updates and the addition of the counter-balancing piston, and even that's trumped by the AEK-971. The only real game changer has been the 12.7x55mm assault rifles and that's really a niche market for close-range sharpshooter support and better suppressed ballistics. Meanwhile, American gunsmiths would approach that same problem by cutting down the barrel on a Barrett rifle and make a sound suppressor that makes even a big loving .50 caliber round sound like a hush puppy from a Hollywood film, all of which would be cheaper and more readily accessible than a new gun in a new cartridge.

Let's be honest here, has there ever been a war where the party starting it didn't think they'd win quickly and easily? Usually things don't go as planned, but not even insane people go into a war knowing it'll take a long time. If anything, it just shows Russia stepped up their intelligence game a bit since the Afghanistan camping trip

Three arrested in estonia with espionage charges. Coincidentally, few days ago Russia arrested an Estonian businessman with espionage charges. edit: apparently they were arrested early last year, the last one was convicted by the end of the last week. In other news, one absolutely unbiased journalist wrote something in new york observer about the baltic states: http://observer.com/2016/02/estonia-wants-more-nato-troops-but-only-if-they-arent-black/ quote:...In 2015, during the Independence Day parade, while African-American troops wearing NATO uniforms marched on the main street of Estonia’s capital, local racists shouted all kinds of racial slurs, including, “Go back to your grandparents in Nigeria!”... Not only is Narva not the capital of Estonia, 99% of it's residents are Russian and even then I only saw the joyous crowds. Well there we go, propaganda at it's finest. jonnypeh fucked around with this message at 09:41 on Feb 23, 2016 |
