I don't need a knife to cut vegetables anymore - I just use my Girl Friends trade paperback, because it's that goddamn edgy. Never mind how many manga talk about sex - the real question is how many of them feature underage drinking?

I'm in a creepy mood. Are there any little known completed VNs out there that I haven't played? I've played 999/VLR/Danganronpa/2. I think Higurashi is supposed to be creepy, but I'm waiting for the whole thing to come out. I'm just about finished Sweet Fuse, but it turned out to be less creepy than I thought.

i won't vouch for corpse party in terms of gameplay, but if you've got a psp/vita it's an option. e: VV yeah, to clarify i meant the first one. i will make no promises about the others. coolskull fucked around with this message at 06:57 on Feb 23, 2016 |

The first Corpse Party is okay and pretty creepy if you can handle the very janky actual gameplay, having to make many multiple saves because you can get put on a bad ending path and not find out for an hour and some occasionally wtf dialogue and fan service. All of the sequels are completely awful with no redeeming features.

Sound of Drop Fall into Poison on Steam is supposed to be pretty creepy. There's also Banshee's Last Cry for mobile, which is the localized version of Kamaitachi no Yoru, the game that sparked off the whole horror/mystery sound novel movement in Japan.

So, while not surprising, it's good to see that PQube is interested or actively moving towards a quick localization. Oh hell yes. Steins;Gate was amazing and if they can get PC/Vita versions (or maybe even PS4) out fairly quickly that would be very very good. Great news (buried among some really weird arguments :P).

Steam is fairly certain that Nekopara and some Sakura VN games are what I really want. Despite the fact that probably last 100 hours I mainly played bunch of different RPGs. Steam Recommendation choices are weird. Can't wait for Steins;Gate (if someone doesn't have the Vita version, it's been on sale for $20 and under in a few places, get it).

The Flowers demo is available on Steam: http://store.steampowered.com/app/445440 JAST is claiming a tentative release date of March 20th. Also, the translation is extraordinarily awful. It reads like total poo poo in english and there are mistranslations everywhere, it's a total disaster. See for yourself: https://twitter.com/KurosakaRyuuko

When you can get stuff like Nekopara for less than $10 (and that can apparently have porn patched in), I doubt the Steam VN crowd is going to accept a near AAA price tag for something of that quality. I guess A Kiss for the Petals might be a better comparison demographic-wise, but that also seems to be less than $10 on Steam. AG3 fucked around with this message at 14:19 on Feb 25, 2016 |

AG3 posted:Maybe the Steam release of Little Witch Romanesque did so well they decided to abandon titties? Who knows. Steins;Gate is JAST's best selling title, and obviously no titties there. I don't really have any real interest in Flowers but from what I can tell it has a lot more substance to it than any given Kiss for the Petals game. I'd say that quality has little to do with it, though. Look at how well If My Heart Had Wings sells on Steam, for goodness sake. If Flowers was $20, it probably would have sold well for a visual novel even with the butchered script. $40 for any VN is a hard sell, unless it's famous like Grisaia or Clannad.

And let's not forget that Flowers is not a complete game. It is very clearly setting up for a sequel (possibly a series) and leaves some very, very major plot threads hanging at the end. If I went into it thinking it was a complete experience worth $40 I'd be pretty pissed.

The game itself is possibly the best one of its kind released in english, if you're okay with fluffy romantic comedies with not a whole lot of story to them. But I was mainly referring to translation quality, which is around on par or probably even worse than what we've seen with Flowers. Wow..VLR just goes on and on, doesn't it? My first path ended with Dio. The next couple were The End. Then Clover. Then hours and hours of reading and puzzles and not a single finish. A couple locks. A couple unlocks. Branches that were hidden extending all the way down the page. I'm guessing at some point things will speed up. Really enjoying it, but I am over 20 hours now and don't feel anywhere close to finishing. So a little burned out. Especially because of all the times I'd just stare at the screen for a minute while it wanders around opening doors and riding elevators and nothing is happening. Based on the Password pages, I have 3 rooms and one password to go, so hooray.
