If you're too afraid to even consider going on the offensive with Trump for fear of being crushed utterly like Jeb! et al, why bother doing the research? It's wasted time and effort in that logic.

I don't know about Ohio and Virginia - Obama won those states by relatively small margins last time around, and I could see them flipping to Trump under the right conditions. Throw in another state like Iowa or New Hampshire, and Trump wins.

If anything, Watergate was a problem in the sense that it allowed the conservative movement to disavow Nixon and for the country to pretend that the cancer had been cured when Nixon resigned, only for Reagan to happen.

If I were defending Bork I would point out that his bosses at the JD both told him to go ahead and fire Cox because Nixon was eventually going to find someone to do it and they wanted to save the department from further damage and mayhem. But I won't defend him, the man was a swine. If he'd gotten on the court in 87 instead of Kennedy the US would be a meaner, darker place.

Yep, NOVA is literally populated solely by HillBots working for the federal government and contiguous industries, Trump terrifies them and they will vote in yooge numbers. Not to mention T-Mac will see VA go for Hillary if it requires him to escort every voter to the polls personally, and in exchange he's got a cabinet position (or something else nice, replacing DWS? I can dream) waiting for him when he's done as governor.

Because there will be literally nothing else for her staff to do all day? It's not just going after him. It's going after him in the right way. I don't know if I trust the Democrats (no matter who is the nominee) to understand why he's popular, and how they can counter his specific brand of nonsense. The Democratic party will have nothing to do but attack him, but I think if they attack him in the traditional sense, it'll only help him. I said this in the GOP primary thread; I'm pretty sure the best way to deal with Trump is to sink to his level. Emasculate him, make him look weak, or make him look out of touch. Anything else (rightly calling him a bigot, pointing out his platform is lunacy, etc) will not help. fknlo posted:This. People get way too invested in it. Yeah, while gamergaters and the dark enlightenment are the most vocal and visible, like tumblrites they are just the obvious part of a larger subculture that is brewing. In the case of tumblr, like while there are people talking about being transracial fictionkin, there is a heightened discussion and acceptance about gender roles that I think will fast come to the forefront of conversation in the "mainstream" sphere. I definitely think the same thing exists among neoreactionaries, and for all their protestations against identity politics, it's definitely hiding behind their and right-libertarian's rejection of democratic principles. Some one in a right-wing think tank is going to figure out how to put a respectable spin on that, and it'll catch on. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2KYYVrBX4v0
