Which one?

I actually went to PAX South recently and was surprised to only see seven utilikilts over three days. One of them was worn by a dude running a station with ten Steel Battalion set-ups though. He's probably worth extra points. I also saw five or six regular kilts, but those don't count in the same way. I've seen more utilikilts at a one-day beerfest in Madison, Wisconsin, but I was trashed so I don't remember the exact count. Step up your game, PAX South.

Comicon was always the worst, followed by PAX, and then other trade shows. I thought this level of social awkwardness was a universal constant. Then I went to Europe.

Gamescom? Clean, well dressed, German people. Almost all of them were in shape and many came with significant others. It blew my mind. They even cleaned up after themselves which nobody in America had ever done before.

The crowd at E3 is one of the worst, but for different reasons. Mostly reporters, biz dev folks, and press who give no shits about your product. I actually enjoyed the nerds that would find their way into our booths.

Except for that one furry reporter.

I was actually pleasantly surprised by the general mix of people at PAX South. I had never gone to anything like that before and expected the worst. While there were definitely some stereotypical, wheezing utilikilt hambeasts around, there were also plenty of normal people wandering the floor. I mostly hung out with goons and ate/drank in San Antonio for a weekend and had a good time. It's only three hours away from me so, gently caress it, I'd go again.

I did not see a single furry even though I was told there were a few around. There were definitely some cosplayers though. I don't really see the point of that at a video games convention, but whatever. Nerds're gonna nerd.

Cosplaying done right is pretty awesome IMO, sadly for every good there is lots of bad. Also, I absolutely refuse to believe we don't have more than a few goons on here who are like "neckneards am I right fellas!?" who arent dangerously close to describing themselves.

Finished up my first Kataphron Breacher before I leave the office:

The arm is magnetized and the gun just slides on/off so I just need to paint up the Heavy Grav-Cannon and Cognis Flamer for the Destroyer variant. These models are very detail heavy, took me longer than usual to get it done.

Only 5 more to go. :/

Just to give you an idea since we are aiming for the same thing for our armies. This shows a bit of progression:

So this poor bird is a rescue, which is hard to tell but there is a bit of roughness to the original primer and paint job that I attempted to clean up, not to mention glue bleeding through at all sorts of spots that isn't apparent until you are very close, but this is what it looked like after a fresh coat or two of maccrage and leadbelcher.

I used to just wash entire vehicles with Nuln Oil, but I found it just saved me a shitload of cleaning if I took the time to be careful and just apply it to every nook and cranny including the bolts.

And here we go with just a first quick dry brush of Calgar. While it will likely make a slight mess you should have so little paint on your brush that it pretty much can't end up anywhere other than the edges. I recommend this simply because it is quick and doesn't look to shabby, notice I avoided the lines that crisscross the wings and what not? Those I'd recommend traditional edging like SRM said, but gently caress doing that for the entire thing, I don't have all day.

Looking good man.

I saw your message about the plasma cannons, and I thought I had some, but forgot that I ended up cutting them up to make my stupid robot man. I will look and see if I have the meltas in my bits box though as I don't remember using them for anything.

(Robot man in question. Part of the scale model building group build. 40K bits make good conversion bits for stupid projects when you think you are out of the hobby. :D)

I will probably end up using him as a lovely counts as proxy dread/helbrute for play testing.

Edit: And yes, there are left over Stormraven and Knight Titan bits in there.

Yeah, but they are usually such weird people. Like a mixed strain of LARPers, nintendo fanboys, magic players, and drama students.

I'm sorry. The whole furry thing is a very weird part of internet culture, but something about some guy deciding that not only was he going to dress up as an animal, but also walk around interviewing people as a reporter just makes me laugh with its absurdity.

Making my first Unbound list - a little block of 500pts I can tack onto other lists for some wackiness. Mostly an excuse to make some models I've wanted to make, and then choose whatever rules seem most fitting.

First are the buffalo chickens. My name in several places is "BuffaloChicken," so it seemed fitting. These explosive little fellas explode to defend themselves, like Catachan Barking Toads, so I'm gonna use Tyranid Spore Mine rules. I converted them from 15mm velociraptors.

Next is Calvin & Hobbes. They use the rules for Harald Greatwolf, so they can attach to a Catachan squad before the battle and outflank them before splitting off to do their own thing. Calvin's shield is a tiny Spaceman Spiff saucer, and his weapon is a power croquet mallet. Hobbes was a Star Wars Nexu cut apart and enlarged with paperclips and greenstuff.

Most ambitious was the Herpaderpadon (plays as a close-combat Dreadknight). This was based off a few things - the goofy toy monster dino dubbed the "Herpaderpadon," which one night ten years ago was elected the mascot of my house parties. It eventually came apart in the middle, and since then the hollow halves have been cherished as drinking goblets. The model incorporates a bunch of inside jokes/references from the cup below, which is a silicone pint I had made up so people wouldn't break glasses around the house (it's got the Herpaderpadon, the arrows, the bee, the waterfall, the tower of beer cans, the "TT" flag, the hidden hamburger, and the cup itself is mounted by the little keg). And finally, the guy riding the beast's back is modeled off a friend who is the reigning Warboss. That means his Bosspole (aka wizard staff, or beer cans taped together) is always the largest. All the weedy gits at the party with smaller bosspoles have to do what the Warboss says.

Last thing to finish off this wacky little army is going to be a shaman riding around on an anteater-xenos. Hope some of that long post was interesting!

Currently, no unless you play a 30k-in-40k army.
Next IA book involves the Mechanicum, so maybe they'll get rules.
But based on the fluff, no since they've been declared heresy by the time of 40k.

Castellax are in the McNeil Mechanicus books. Thallax turn up as well I think.

There is fluff justifications for keeping pretty much all the 30k stuff in 40k, just making it rarer.

Pretty much this, Kastellans are barely allowed because they'd dumb as rocks without the Datasmith feeding them data.

Edit: Though still, some 0–1 Relic units like the Marines get would be pretty legit.

Depends on who knows you are doing it. What the techno inquisition don't know, won't hurt them.

And the Kastellans are converted agricultural robots, same as the Leman Russ is based on a tractor.

I'm debating on if I want to sell these now or not. To be honest I LOVE the dropfleet ships, more than the GW ones. Also since AC has his hands in both, I am sure both rulesets will work out well.

If I do sell them I'll put them on SA Mart first and cheaper than I'd put on ebay.
