Not necessarily because they add elves. But that's the timeframe before the bugs are mostly worked out.

Wasn't there supposed to be a new battle gameplay video yesterday? I'm having bad feelings about this being released on time.

How hard is it to record a battle and upload it to youtube? It's not the end of the world that they haven't done more of it, but what reasons are there for not doing it? Those videos of those two idiots talking with the occasional snippet of something from the game probably take more effort and produce less hype than a battle recording would.

xthetenth posted:It allows them to dole out information gradually and in a predictable fashion, which is good for maintaining interest in the long term. I can understand them not wanting to blow their load too early but most of the info they've been releasing has been pretty lackluster and trivial. They've done 3 decently long game game play videos since July 2015 iirc. Of those there was a heavily scripted battle, a campaign walk through and the dwarf game play battle. Would it really have hurt to do one or two more in that time? It's not like restricting the output of info has no downsides either. As we've seen in this thread they run the risk of people jumping to conclusions about the state of the game because they assume there are some dubious reasons for the lack of game play footage. While I don't think it's and omen of doom for the game, I do know that I probably would have stupidly preorded the game by now if they had got me a bit more hyped with a cool battle video. That could easily still happen with the one on Monday, but I'm sure they would have prefered to get my money sooner rather than later. I guess it's a balancing act they need to sort out but at this stage I think they have been too conservative with how much stuff they've released.

Every video needs to be conceptualized, written, played perfectly according to the script, and edited. It takes quite a lot of man hours to put a simple video up. They've done several videos but they're not a very efficient way of getting info out really. I wish there were more and I wish there was literally anything on the VCs but they are just about the most labor intensive way of marketing for video games there is outside of live action trailers.

Making promotional videos is a big undertaking. People get nervous, flub their lines and need to repeat them over and over when you put a camera on them (or stare fixedly at the lens or the person they're speaking to). We did a short promotional video with interviews from one of our customer law firms recently and got to enjoy watching six or seven highly educated professionals, several of whom I know for a fact are incredibly eloquent speakers face to face, mumbling and looking at their feet. It's astounding how people can clam up when you point a camera at them. Now imagine that the people you're interviewing aren't customer facing in their normal working lives.
