Don't know any resources in particular but I'm pretty well versed in the 80ish miles of the trail closest to pgh and a little less so with the rest, so ask any questions u got

For night 1 if you like remote things i highly recommend "roundbottom" campground it's super remote and on a lovely bend in the yough

During, just sneak in a set during score replays and hope you don't spawn up front for the next kickoff.

it's easy to feel lonely at the gym as yobber. want to find a kindred spirit? look for these telltale signs:
  • yells "gently caress you! yeah! gently caress you! unh!" at the mirror for every rep (indicates self-loathing, very BYOB)
  • imitates a female orgasm from porn for every set (intense desire for intimacy; lonely, very BYOB)
  • loudly refers to the dumbbells as "my bitches" (i don't know what this means tbh but i'm sure it's BYOB)

any of you East-coasters ever biked on the Great Allegheny Passage or the C&O Canal Towpath? Thinking of maybe touring it here in a month or two.

Fellow GAP rider here. I tried (and failed) to ride from Pittsburgh to Philly two years ago on the GAP and it was brutal but super fun.

Depending on when you go, the crushed limestone can really suck your wheels. Consider running wider tires if you can; in my case I ran 25c but I would have liked 28c if I had the clearance. I went in early April right after snow melted though, so YMMV. Definitely play it by ear.

There's a nice bike shop in Ohiopyle about 80 miles in, so if you forgot supplies or need something, this is the only place I know of once you're on the trail (but there may be more, check out info on Crush the Commonwealth for more useful tidbits)

It's beautiful and fun, and I highly recommend it. If you stop in Pittsburgh, feel free to gimme a holler and I'll buy you a beer for your journey.

my touring bike is outfitted for the Katy trail mostly which is all crushed limestone. I'm running 28c commuters, but I might switch to something with some better tread.

I'm looking at Pitt to DC, but if Pitt to Philly is a better experience I could do that.

You p much only go to the DC area of that path if you want to visit great falls. I love the park but that's prob cuz I visit it often

I've never been to pitt, dc, or philly so I figure that I could do some site seeing in all three.

another big part of this trip will be to scope out these so-called mega-hills in Pitt. I'm DOING the Dirty Dozen ride this year for sure and I'm curious to see how bad they actually are.

alnilam

As a bonus if you ride to DC the train back to pgh (where shabbat goy and i will feed you beer) allows roll-on bike service and it's a beautiful route (though granted the first half is basically the same as the c&o route)

Though since you don't live here it probably makes more sense to just fly back out of dc...

Pitt to Philly is cool because you get to go through the abandoned turnpike, which is as spooky as it sounds (or so I've heard).

HI alnilam, sorry I've not been posting much, working a ton of hours. And I agree with Shine, Rocket League is fun as gently caress and I've neglected like 5 other games that look really cool to keep playing it, it owns. If you are ever on late at night and want to play, add me Shine, PSN is DrunkDriverDad. Although I guess you might be on PC.

e: oh forgot to talk fitness. I think my gains are either coming back way fast, or I have a bit of a mental block. Last week I felt like a 185x5 deadlift was pretty tough, close to my max. The other night I said what the hell, and threw on 225 and busted out 4 reps fairly easy. I feel like I'm back in the game now.

heyy dude, make slow progress :) I don't wanna sound like a mum but it's better to just go up nice slow and gradual in weight, especially when coming back from being off.

Drunk Driver Dad
its all good man, I had a friend checking form, and I warmed up in small increments.

One problem I am having is with my squats and I haven't tried anything heavy with those. My knee has been hurting like hell, tonight they hurt before I could even put weight on the bar. They haven't been caving in, but I suspect maybe I've lost flexibility and I'm not getting my hips spread out enough, so the knees are in a constant slightly collapsed in position from start to finish without moving, if that makes sense. I'm laying off the squatting and going back to stretching and foam rolling for a week or two, maybe do some body weight squats, and see what happens. Working 60ish hour weeks is surely going to take some toll on my body, so that's another gear in the works to consider.

ohno, that sucks :(

do they hurt because of squatting or was it hurting already? when they feel better you can start with goblet squats

Drunk Driver Dad
it was the squatting that did it, although rarely they had hurt on their own in the same way, but not bad beforehand when I wasn't lifting. I think it may just be tightness. When I drop down to a squat, if i force my knee out with me elbow a little more, the pain seems to lessen so I'm guessing I just need to loosen out again. It's not a constant pain either, it lasts only a short while, unless I squat again immediately.

Exercising takes alot out of you, happiness wise, your body's natural reaction is to boost it's mood in whatever fashion it prefers! Yours is to eat some brownies, which is the same as mine! I love getting a brownie after I finish my workout. I'll stuff myself with sweets as much as I possibly can, but that's only because I know I'll be working it off come hell or high water. My suggestion is to take out "loans" on sweets and pay off the "debt" as it were, later!

i don't know what you mean by regular store brand. i drink this stuff because i'm a giant taste weenie and it tastes exactly like chocolate milk to me. you can get it lots of places like gnc, vitamin shop, and my computer tells me walmart

please god no one tell me i should be drinking something else bc i don't think i can deal with that level of disappointment :ohdear:

ON Gold Standard is considered to be one of the better brands...its just a little expensive in a store compared to online stuff. It's what I use, actually.
