Well the code activated fine for me. It is a shame that they restrict it. At least I get to rock my orange Hazmat pants for playing the beta. Those are the flashiest colour so far. Pair that with pink and turquoise weapon paint and it will be glorious... Or was that a pre-order bonus?

Any news on the exact time of release? I'm a euro considering taking the day off work on the 8th, but no point if the game doesn't release until sometime in the evening.

Finally got around to putting down the money on the gold edition last night. Anyone know anything about how the pre-order bonuses will work if purchased through amazon? Couldn't ignore that $20 off for the gold edition.

Pretty much the same. I was worried at first with Amazon because when I originally checked it a few weeks back the Digital Download version didn't look to get the same $20 discount that regular box did. So I waited. Checked last night (after about 3 weeks) and noticed that the discount was popping for the download so I grabbed it. Has anyone else here ever pre-ordered from Amazon? I'm curious as to how they'll handle the key delivery for things like pre-loading, or if they'll even give it out so that we can.

Don't take a day off for a ubisoft release. Chances are the servers will go down and you'll be left dock in hand for a long, long, empty day.

There's a free backpack with some crafting mats that you can redeem on the Ubisoft Club page: https://club.ubi.com Ubisoft Club 'Go Bag' "Adds a collection of essential items to the Rewards Claim Vendor, perfect for the recently activated Agent. Gives you; 3x Medkits, 500 Credits and assorted basic crafting materials to get you start"

In the beta you just filled up on medkits when you hit a resupply crate. Is there evidence to suggest that medkits will be something you purchase instead? Or does "three medkits" refer to the ability to carry three medkits at a time, something that in the beta was locked behind the first medbay upgrade IIRC

Normal aesthetic gear aside, how long do you think it will be before we ditch the weapons/backpacks provided via the key or via preorder? I can't see these things being worth a drat after more than 30-40 minutes of average gameplay.

LCL-Dead posted:Normal aesthetic gear aside, how long do you think it will be before we ditch the weapons/backpacks provided via the key or via preorder? Yeah, my starting gun and backpack were gone 2 levels into the beta. I'd say the cosmetics are the only ones that would carry over longer. Gear-wise I get the feeling it's going to be "Get to max level of relevant DZ tier, farm DZ for gear, level, rinse, repeat".

Dr Cheeto posted:Armor mods weren't really in the beta, but it was clear they would exist at some point. Maybe there will be armor skins? Personally I would have preferred that the gear the agents were wearing was a bit more in line with what's considered proper protective gear these days. The zip-up/buckle style vests they have us donning as agents were, in life, meant to be worn over some type of plate or Kevlar (or combo of both) carrier. Though with the acceptance of molle and other attachment systems they've grown largely obsolete due to them just adding weight and, in most cases, needing a web belt or other attachment device in order to anchor them to the carrier so that they don't move around (independently) too much. Modeling a plate carrier with a few various pouch/plate arrangements from the plethora of available carriers and styles that could be found on the net (or in the form of cheap knockoffs from airsoft retailers) wouldn't have been incredibly hard and, in my opinion, would have looked scores better. Here's to hoping that there is something that adds a bit of "armor" to the avatars.

I was kind of surprised there weren't helmets and such as well. Then again, it was a beta so who knows.

No actually we're good! The "armor skins" are all the cosmetics. They're already in the game. The vest is under a puffy coat, who gives a gently caress. If I can't fit a helmet under a bobble hat then gently caress you I don't want a helmet.

Badfinger posted:No actually we're good! You have the option to remove the coat and the vest is still visible through the front because it's not exactly zipped closed. I also said jack and poo poo about helmets. There is no "cosmetic" skin for the vest, it's an actual item, not a cosmetic (like the hat/jacket/shirt/pants/shoes). Every vest I encountered throughout beta was the same tired zip up model with a different color scheme. The only real changes from swapping out gear that were immediately noticeable were on the backpack as it changed shape and the items hanging/attached to it changed.
