So that was our first collab, may do more in the future if they're beneficial to everyone. We're gonna start hitting the requests hard starting next Monday, with Michael Jackson's Moonwalker.

Speaking of, here's the game:

Yeah, I was actually surprised to find out there was a movie, and that the game was somehow faithful to the movie. The whole turning into a robot was in there, and it was terrifying.

Haha, I forgot I even suggested this insanity.

The Moonwalker movie is so balls out stupid crazy. With Michael Jackson using the power of dance to stop the evil Joe Pesci who is I think both a drug dealer and like, a kiddy white slavery ringleader. Then Michael turns into both a robot and a spaceship to fight him. In between they show music videos from that time period. Smooth Criminal's really the only one that appears even tangentially related.

This was a long while coming, we actually did an episode a few months ago, but the online poo poo got out of sync and we had to stop pre-maturely. It's better that we waited though, as we were able to get all three of us in on this nonsense.

I love laughing at the Bechdel Test. Because it, like all jokes aimed at being a lighthearted, non-offense jab at political correctness and social justice, has the harmlessness of its punchline make it be taken ridiculously seriously by far too many people as a very real end-all-be-all rule/axiom, when in reality it was exactly meant to be a gag in an 80s Lesbian themed comic strip.

(And Alien does indeed pass the test, because Ripley and Lambert spend most of their scenes where they have conversations together either about ship maintenance or the alien menace. That was part of the punchline too!)

Yay! I admit to being a little disappointed at how it handles the starting level bonus, though. In at least one other game that's had such a bonus (sadly, I'm blanking on which one I'm thinking of, though... the vector Star Wars, maybe?) you don't get the bonus unless you survive the level you chose.

E: since you didn't show it off: if you're playing two player, and one player turns into the Warrior and the other into the Speeder, and then the Speeder flies into the Warrior, they combine into one large ship with the Speeder as a free-aiming turret. (To decombine, either player just transforms again.) This has some advantages, first and foremost being that whoever's playing the Speeder takes no damage (other than the inevitable clawing of the depths of space), so it's a good role for your little brother to take.

If it weren't for the format of the show, I think we'd be a little better at the games, but yeah, Nick and Keith really sucked the big one on this game. A lot of these games, we're only playing for the first time and doesn't help that we skip all the directions haha.

Don't get me wrong; your incompetence is part of the charm. It makes the moments where one of you is shockingly good at a game all the sweeter.

E: so it turns out Japan has made more than one game about drinking nothing but diet supplements, with foods like apples and rice cakes making you morbidly obese. This time, though, it's the judgement of your would-be girlfriend that'll kill you if you don't meet an arbitrary standard of thinness at the end of the level - even when she's been kidnapped...

Surprisingly, I enjoyed this game quite a bit, and Nick did not. I think Nick hates these kinds of games because he sucks at them, but tries to blame the controller. He's wrong. Also, another Data East classic. I'm alway down for such a treat.

This is not Data East's first game by about three years. This is their earliest video game:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vMBrGXzB-p8

Also, as I noted previously, I played a fair amount of BurgerTime as a kid. Not the arcade version, though. I knew someone with an Intellivision, you see:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=n7Pijj7Ty9E

Note the player's pro strats. Things like not getting surrounded by enemy food, then running straight into them without deploying pepper. :v:

Huh, watching the attract mode in your video, it looks like if you use your pepper strategically, you can make the food attackers fall while standing on top of the burger pieces and die as well. For the record, I have NEVER been good at Burgertime, and I think it's a terrible game for terrible people. Though I still regularly say "We're Closed Now!!" in the voice from the old commercials for the home game from before I was even schoolage.

Yeah, while editing the video, I too noticed that if you pepper them on top of the burger, it will make it fall all the way through. If we prepared for every game though, or knew how to play it, I don't think we'd get some reaction gems that we get from how we normally play.

We've tried to do Vindicators twice now, and the controls are impossible to get emulated correctly, but I'll try to get them figured out. Also we can add Roadblasters onto the list.

Glad you enjoy the Atari style games, I think they're some of the funnest arcade games, but we adopted the the "head 2 head" model because I can't imagine someone would want to watch more than an episode the same type of game.

Good God drat. Nothing can prepare you for this game. We start playing through Trio the Punch - Never Forget Me. . .

This game. . . I can only describe it best as like someone making a mod of a bunch of other games and just throwing poo poo from everything in there. It's so bizarre, and so unfocused and just. . . loving weird.

I love it.

The best part is, each episode of this (it's gonna be every day this week) just gets more and more strange. I personally cannot wait until we get to episode 3. Do yourselves a favor, and if you want to enjoy this properly do not look up anything about this game until it's over.

It's also Data East.

Seriously- and I think we mention it at some point in the video- this game is something that DARES you to understand it. By the fourth or fifth episode we start to get accustomed to most of the stuff going on, which occasions comment on what a journey it has been to get to the point where Trio the Punch no longer baffles or enrages. It just... is.

My only regret with this episode is that I had to make do with the word "vaginal" when I've since learned that the word "yonic" exists for things that are the feminine equivalent of phallic.

Use it wisely my friends.
