Awesome. I think a lot of people were expecting there to be some form of set 4 preview at the invitational. Playable for everyone to check out is pretty sweet. I wonder if it will be similar to other times they've had a set playable but still a few months from release with missing art files and such.

Last we heard from Cory, all art and cards for set 4 were complete and the only thing blocking its release was a few pieces of equipment that presumably need to be implemented because they'll drop from chests.

I thought I might be more excited about set 4 showing up at the invitational than I am. I mean I expected they would show it there, or preferably it be out before the invitational. I'm just not really in the mood for weeks of spoilers at this point or whatever. Hopefully we get a release date during the invitational and hopefully the release date is before the end of March.

If set 4 is indeed art and card complete, I expect the turnaround will be a lot quicker from first reveal to set release than it was for sets 2 and 3. I'm not willing to put any money on it, though, and as I've said before I'm more excited for set 4 in that it means we're closer to AZ2 and set 5 than I am for set 4 itself. I loathe the vennen egg mechanic, so I'm not exactly looking forward to another several months spent trudging through a limited environment full of it.

My hope for set 4, re: eggs is that they find ways to reduce the variance of egg decks. That would probably involve making set 4 vennen have less powerful effects trigger on egg spawning (e.g. nothing on the level of Vilefang Eremite, Painbreeder, or Nahzk Webguard), and instead focus on milling or mechanics like "at the start of your turn, every egg in your opponent's deck moves up one space."

I'm looking forward to Set 4 on it's own merits, but yea the biggest thing is that I want it to be the start of regular set releases - even just starting at 2 per year (with the 3rd early the next year) that would be enough I think to get lots more people interested and drafting Also thinking about 4-4-3 drafting it means there will be way fewer methods (we know about) for generating spiders; Hatchery Priest, Runeweb Infiltrator, Parriphagy, Hatchery Broodguard, all of those will be thinner on the ground - plus Hatchery Cultivator and Painbreeder being in pack 3 means (maybe) people will be less likely to hone in on their gimmick early

Robots really wasn't a significant presence in 221 despite there being a few robot-oriented cards in set 2.

I can't count the number of times I went up against an early stampede of construction foreman created war bots in 2-2-1. Dwarf/Robot Bertram might not have been as good as W/x Fuzzuko, but it was definitely still a thing in 2-2-1 and there were usually at least 2 or 3 R/S dwarf/robot decks in any given 2-2-1 draft.

Out of 133 recorded Goon drafts, only 19 were any variation of Dwarves deck, compared to 9/39 in Set 1. EDIT: More to the point, 221 Dwarves decks were vastly different from 111 Robots decks. Decks similar to the 111 Robots decks were nearly nonexistent because the massive overlapping synergies were much harder to come by when there was only a single pack of set 1 to draft. Set 2 robots were definitely different. Hornet Bot, Construct Foreman and Reactor Bot transformed it from a control archetype into an aggro archetype. But I'd say they were just as strong as they were in set 1.

Let us take the analogy as directly as possible, and imagine aggro spiders wherein you die the turn the Eremite hits the field. All hail set 4.

If you just want to grind out a level probably your best bet is to run one of the dungeons again. Plus that way you at least get a chance at some loot.

Is there any unique reward for rescuing all of the gnomes? I've got the sandworm queen card but I haven't had the patience to actually complete the quest yet.

This whole "can't have four of a kind" thing is really screwing with my deck concepts. What are the "hot" PvE decks right now? Are the slaughtergear cards still king?

I kinda like it because it forces you to deckbuild under restrictions, without just using 4x all the busted cards. Kinda like a faux-version of limited. I'm sure I'll get sick of it later, though.

Just let me make a goofy Gnoll Mangler deck; I'm not going to break anything.

Well, we're only, I believe, 1/3 of the way through leveling at the end, what progression would there be if you already hit max by then?

I doubt that anyone would be willing to go to the trouble (as shipping outside the US I heard can be a pain), but if someone was willing to pick me up a shards of fate poster from the invitational and ship it to the UK I would tip them

So really, the only difference between dwarves and necrotic is that there aren't any other sentient rock people to get angry at the dwarves for recycling their corpses.

I've been asked to become a writer for Five Shards which I'm pretty stoked about . Currently have two articles going through editing, one about my five shard aggro brew which is as long as a novel, and the second is meant to serve as a primer for the constructed meta game, going over the most impactful cards in each shard (as I see it). Here's where the five shard aggro deck is at right now: quote:Champion: Sir Giles Rowan I've had seven 5 win gauntlet runs so far since starting to put it together, and it's really cheap to put together now I've cut Angel of Dawn.
