This always makes me giggle because if you were the biggest "SJW" nobody would give a poo poo about "SJWs".

Putting it in quotes because its yet another term that's been Ruined By The Internet. Like it had value for about a week describing crazy fringe Tumblr types a few years ago, but then the misogynists started using it to describe any woman to the left of Marge Schott or Phillys Schlafly.

All the way to good buff regularly? Geez. Those things were like 10£ in England while Gustavus' Drabants went with the ikea approach and bought the materials for good ones for like 4.5£ a head iirc.

VVVV :wtc: a full suit of modern interceptor body armor costs half that

yeah that's because gustavus's dudes live where the good poo poo is produced, the germans used to buy elk skin from them until that whole war thing

and have you seen buff now? i'm waiting on a buff coat that'll be about $200 (they sent me one in the wrong size, i sent it back, and the replacement still isn't here yet) but the really good poo poo begins at about $3000 and just goes up from there. life is hard

Technically you could but it is complicated.

This also inspired me to talk with my traditional artisan friend about how much they'd want to get paid for making a buff coat. Answer so far: these loving suck to make, it will cost a lot.

The Romans almost lost the Second Battle of Beneventum because the Roman commander promised the majority slave army that any slave who brought him a Carthaginian head would be freed. Predictably, the slaves spent so much time cutting off heads that they started losing the battle - the Roman general had to tell all the slaves they would be free at the end of the battle so that they would stop looting and actually finish the fight.

The Hittites lost the battle of Kadesh because their dudes stopped to loot Ramses's camp before the battle was finished. Probably a big problem in an era where soldiers are expected to support themselves through plunder rather than an organized quartermaster corps.

British officers in India had to go ahead of the main army and smash any booze bottles that the Indians had "helpfully" left lying around because they knew the men would just get pissed instead of marching, so I think this is just soldiers throughout all of history really

untrue. the dudes who killed him noticed a Swedish officer who was dressed well and escorted by a large group of people, so probably important, and moving funny--one of his arms had been shattered, probably from a firearm but I don't remember. There was a melee for a while, one of them yelled "here's our bird," rode up to him, pressed his pistol into his back, and shot him. When he fell from his horse, someone blew his head open at point-blank range with another pistol.

about five pounds, to judge from the one I got before I sent it back. That one has no sleeves.

when wallenstein's brother in law trzcka was assassinated his assailants' daggers bounced off so they beat him to death with their carbines, but the personal accounts from that blame it on him knowing the magic that makes you unwoundable, not his elkskin coat

gustavus adolphus's Articles of War specifically forbid doing magic (it's the first couple articles, to let you know how seriously he took that), and look how well that worked out for him
