I have a friend from HS who was hit on his motorcycle and pinned to the front of the guy's truck for a few miles while the guy just kept driving . Broke his back too. He sued the poo poo out of the bar and casino the guy had gotten wasted at and bought a house with all the leftover money after paying the medical bills.

Anyways, mandatory sentencing of any kind is bad bad bad bad. I've never driven drunk nor do I ever plan to, but it is interesting as a culture how that behavior is viewed compared to others. It's also your choice to get in a car when you haven't had your solid 8 hours of sleep or after you get devastating or exciting news. Outside some VERY rare instances, we don't even investigate let alone enhance penalties for people who cause wrecks (fatal or otherwise) that fall into these categories. When was the last time you heard about a person getting convicted of manslaughter for a head on collision caused by not wearing sunglasses? Hell, I look at my circumstance with my color blindness. Red is a very dull color to me. Studies have shown that having protanopia and diving gives your an equivalent risk factor of having a BAC of 0.05 to 0.08. This is something I know every time I get behind the wheel, should I be tried with an enhanced charge if I miss a stop sign and cause an accident?

you didnt' go somewhere decide that you wanted to be colorblind then run over some lady wearing red in the parking lot with your bro truck. edit: I will stop opining as we are going down a slippery slope discussion related to human judgement failures, not mechanical.

Just to get things a bit more on track Video of the destruction: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oVJFVc5-1TU The best part is at 0:36, when the dipstick pops out due to crankcase pressure, like a turkey popper. Stick a fork in it, she's done! Backstory: Friend of mine bought this choice automobile as a parts donor with a known knocking engine. Turns out the piston skirt was pretty badly broken, block was already unsalvageable, so he had his son floor it till it scattered parts everywhere to get a video for the internet.

Niven posted:Are there any extra consequences when this kind of thing happens as a result of safety systems being compromised with aftermarket parts/work? Last year a girl was hit here by a truck while crossing the street, it was a relatively low speed collision but his bumper was jacked right up to head level and landed her in serious condition. It's a constant source of concern when I see a lifted brodozer rolling up on me from behind at a stoplight on my motorcycle. Maybe, but probably not. Vehecular manslaughter (in CA) requires a vehicle code violation and negligence. While most negligence involves a vehicle code violation, in the hypothetical case where it didn't if this is a vehicle code violation (it may not be illegal) it coulf make the difference. I could argue that a stinger is in itself criminal negligence, but that is a stretch legally.

Tsk tsk, using 4.8 class hardware for that. Well at least it wouldn't damage an 8.8, 10.9, or 12.9 you put it on. I think HF tools might be the only place I've actually seen 4.8 hardware sold/used.

Really all this is just like most "lifehacks": some slightly clever solution to a problem that doesn't exist. Maybe it would be useful on the side of the road if you didn't have the right wrench for some reason, and happened to have handy (or be able to pull) a bolt/nut. But that's stretching it.
