ohgodwhat posted:I'm very surprised you're making any claims at all given that you supposedly have privileged knowledge. But I guess there's no issue if you don't just outright state US strategies, instead just hinting at them and dismissing any potential alternatives? Think of it as how all media networks bring in retired military experts to discuss - it's likely that on any particular subject, that military expert has had exceedingly limited experience with it unless the topic is directly in their wheel house. However, all of these experts have likely served on staffs, been Chiefs of Staff, or been a General/Flag Officer themselves and are more than qualified to discuss the processes. If you're O6 or higher, you almost certainly have held a Top Secret clearance. Stating you've had a level of access isn't exactly frowned upon, stating the details of what and how you did things is frowned upon or worse. For instance, my resume has my clearance level, billet, and generalities of what my billet entailed and in the case of my clearance level, it is explicitly allowed and discussed when being read out. In this discussion, there is nothing Jarmac can provide as hard evidence to counter because that'd be illegal (if he even had access to it). However, he is fully qualified to say, "That is not how the process works" and be totally right. It's all besides the point because the initial claim lacks any hard evidence and is based in speculation, as Jarmac noted. Why is Unzip and Attack so sure that one baseless claim is so accurate while wholly discounting another counter claim? What experience has Unzip and Attack had, that qualifies him to be so certain? It's fine to disagree because you'd have to take Jarmac's reasoning as an article of faith, but then that opens a whole can of worms with respect to this forum, our discussions, and what we can and cannot reasonably believe to be a poster's expert opinion.
