Two things I've noticed this year: popped roof flaps (Danica's looked up every time I saw it, though her roof being a lighter color might've made that easier to see) and flared side skirts (Jr's team was blatantly pulling them out in a slow-mo replay during pit stops).

Assist to Kidc for pointing it out earlier in the podcast group: https://twitter.com/CBJspanberg/status/706895471256739841 Donald Trump: ruining the clean image of our NASCAR heroes, one driver at a time. https://twitter.com/CBJspanberg/status/706900406530666497 NASCAR is Trans World Airlines? And the best one: https://twitter.com/CBJspanberg/status/706895759136964608 https://twitter.com/chaseelliott/status/706907623379972096 Intended or not, Trump thinks France's endorsement is a NASCAR endorsement. Brian probably thinks this is tremendous PR, delightfully oblivious to the potential fallout. CBJSprague24 fucked around with this message at 20:33 on Mar 7, 2016 |

quote:Carl Icahn acquired control of TWA and took the company private in a leveraged buyout in 1988. TWA became saddled with debt, sold its London routes, underwent Chapter 11 restructuring in 1992 and 1995, and was further stressed by the explosion of TWA Flight 800 in 1996. In 2001, TWA filed for a third and final bankruptcy and was acquired by American Airlines. American laid off many former TWA employees in the wake of the September 11, 2001 attacks and closed its St. Louis hub in 2003. Icahn is France...TWA is NASCAR...Finkle is Einhorn... (Selling to Frank Lorenzo would have been like selling to Tony George in that he fits the "loving retard having no business running an airline/racing league" category.) e- quote:In 1989, TWA decided to replace its fleet of Boeing 727 Series 100 aircraft with the former Ozark DC-9s. This decision was based on the economics of operating three-crew airplanes (727s) with three engines, versus operating two-crew airplanes (DC-9s) with two engines. Both airplanes had approximately the same passenger and cargo capacity, so it was decided to replace the Boeing fleet. In order to prepare for this transition, TWA positioned several million dollars worth of spare parts for the DC-9s in Germany. This was a requirement dictated by the German government. If TWA wanted to use DC-9s in the service of the German population, then TWA had to provide readily available spare parts for its fleet. The airline also sent its senior DC-9 pilots (known as Check Airmen) to Europe to observe the operations in preparation for the changeover of the crews that was to follow. Shortly before the DC-9 airplanes began arriving in Germany, however, the entire plan was canceled because the leasing contracts that Carl Icahn had created for the former Ozark DC-9s specifically forbade any operations outside the continental limits of the United States. "Airplanes Which Actually Can't Be Flown in Germany After Lots of Prep Work = Cars Which Will Be Useless in Five Years After Lots of Prep Work". Yeah, France is Icahn, Einhorn is Finkle, etc... You know what else polarizes NASCAR fans that's pissing me off? Dave Moody and everyone affiliated with Brad Keselowski saying Buschwackers help NXS drivers get sponsors. https://twitter.com/DGodfatherMoody/status/707304002199949312 Yes, let's ignore the fact that Truex was virtually the last driver out of Busch before it became overrun with Cup drivers in 2006, that Kes was the only driver who could hold a candle to them in 2009, and that neither had to share a ride with a Cup driver when they competed for gently caress's sake.

quote:"I was frankly, very surprised, that my diversity efforts for my whole career would have been called into question, over this, in my view, a routine endorsement," France said Wednesday in an interview with The Associated Press. "I, the CEO and face of NASCAR, took one of the most popular drivers in the sport's history, his "face of the future" son, and two other drivers to a rally to so I myself could endorse a candidate who is a bigot and hates political correctness, two things our recent punishment system attempts to stifle! This is the same candidate whose property we pulled the NXS and CWTS banquets out of just a few months ago! What could possibly go wrong? Nobody's going to take this as a NASCAR endorsement, I'm sure." I'm trying to think and can't remember anything under the Brian France era which has created this much of a shitstorm. He's an idiot, but has never come this close to completely screwing the NASCAR pooch. quote:To the surprise of everyone at Hendrick Motorsports, France was joined by Elliott at the Trump rally in Georgia where he offered his endorsement. At 20, Elliott has yet to vote in his first presidential election. Trump called Elliott to the microphone, and the young driver stumbled through a few remarks before sheepishly joining his father and the rest of the NASCAR contingent off to the side. Not only is Chase Elliott boring, but he's misguided! CBJSprague24 fucked around with this message at 04:02 on Mar 10, 2016 |
