Bhaal posted:Ah thanks, I must have mixed up the GOP/DEM rules for MI, then. This is the right way to look at it. The fact that a self-proclaimed socialist, a geriatric Jew from Vermont, has gone up against a First Lady, Senator, and Secretary of State with near-unanimous party figure backing and won nine states against her is absolutely stunning. He is not going to win the nomination, but you can bet Hillary Clinton never expected this primary to be competitive at all. It's forced her to really reach out to Democratic voters in her core constituencies. One of the knock-on benefits of this is that Hillary Clinton now owes the African-American community, especially poor Southern African-Americans, a colossal debt. They've single-handedly bailed her Presidential campaign out. Politicians know which side their bread is buttered on and HRC is well aware of that constituency's needs and priorities.

yeah they call it a caucus, but every voter gets a paper ballot and fills it out, and those ballots have to be counted. this might take a while

SpiderHyphenMan posted:Rubio does not crave power. Rubio craves respect. There is no respect in being the Vice President of Ted Cruz. Respect, yes. Rubio also, blatantly, craves wealth, something almost all his rivals have in massive quantities but he never has. Rubio's probably the most obvious case of "loving off to become a lobbyist making 2 million a year" we could have at this point. Remember, Marco Rubio is A. a person who racked up six-digit personal expenses on a Florida Republican Party credit card and claimed he mixed up which card was which and B. only paid off his student loans in 2015 despite getting a million dollar fee for his book. Rubio has expensive tastes and I think he's desperate to start living it up.

even by hawaiian precinct standards im guessing that 218 votes from 2 precincts is on the low end, vote/precinct-wise. like, presumably there are at least a few thousand republicans in honolulu. so im guessing this poo poo doesnt matter edit: oh poo poo it updated! i bet these are some of the most rural precincts in the whole drat state, hence the incredibly low vote/precinct ratio. that's generally the first ones to report, especially if it's about some volunteer or three counting paper ballots it does shake my fake faith in rubio tho the thing is, it's not 8% of total votes, it's 8% of precincts. some precincts in this country have a few hundred people living in their area, some have tens of thousands, i think. so it's unlikely that the total vote will be as low as it looks right now oystertoadfish has issued a correction as of 07:40 on Mar 9, 2016 |

Dammit, my last post missed two precincts each on Oahu and Maui. Up to 6/45 now. This looks really good for Trump at this point. I love how Maui has 2/7 precincts in and not even 50 voters combined.
