A found footage torture porn remake of Texas Chainsaw 2 where the ghost is in the internet but it's the kid's dream that came to life and can be passed on to other people via a videotape of you having sex with the vampire in your basement that was actually the original victim of Leatherface but now she's cursed by a talking goat. It took 12 years to make!

Sleeveless posted:With remakes and Cinematic Universes being so big I'm almost surprised that there hasn't been some attempt to remake a bunch of old Stephen King movies only with all the Derry/Castle Rock/Dark Tower stuff intact if not even more prominent. I'd completely geek out if something like that were ever done, but its probably not really worth the effort. With a handful of exceptions, most of the connections are a line here or there and or a road sign, small stuff like that. Like, yea Father Callahan becomes important in the Dark Tower, but how exactly would a Salem's Lot remake take advantage of that? His future exploits with the Ka-tet don't ever become relevant during the events of Salem's Lot. Insomnia is the only novel that could really be used to establish the Dark Tower mythology in any meaningful way.

Honestly I can't remember other than he was an accountant for a big firm and had blonde hair. I vote Michael Pitt. scary ghost dog posted:hes probably been cut and replaced with Flagg That makes a lot more sense in terms of simplifying the story, for sure.

It doesn't matter if they have silly names if they die 30 minutes in. I don't think Slipknot and Diablo are going do anything of note but to die quickly.

Also, I'm a little late, but:Vagabundo posted:Oh is it? Then I guess it does end with a jump scare at the end. There were two things I was getting at by pointing out that it's Blumhouse. Firstly, pretty much every horror trend post-Paranormal Activity has been spawned or codified by a Blumhouse movie; they're absurdly loving prolific, to a degree that I don't think any other production house matches nowadays. They're practically a 30s Poverty Row studio transplanted to the 2010s, which is a large part of why they own. They're not gonna recut a movie to match the new Big Things when they generally make the new Big Things. Secondly, they don't have a distribution arm and rely on other studios to handle distribution for them. When a movie's solid, this is good and doesn't create issues, but when they've got something that nobody actually wants to see or release, it creates issues because they have to either try to bash the movie into not sucking or just hold out until they can foist it off on someone. This is why The Green Inferno took like 2 years to come to theaters after its festival premiere. This is presumably why the new Amityville got pushed back nearly a year.
