This is rad.

I went stargazing with the Austin Astronomical Society this weekend, which was a lot of fun. The brightest illumination along the horizon (toward the left) is from the city of Llano, about 15-20 miles away.

PROUD 2 B AMERICAN (these colors don't run)
These are only pseudo long exposure, but seeing as they are similar to those in this thread I figure they belong.

I like these two a lot, but they'd be way easier to view if you posted each one on a separate line and didn't thumbnail them.

Isn't there a way to trigger the camera with the sudden light change via triggertrap etc.?

There are lightning triggers available. I bought one after I took that shot using the trial-and-error method but I haven't had a chance to test it out yet.

Looks like some camera shake, probably from when you hit the button. Even with a tripod it's easy to do. You can avoid this by using a short delay.

Does anyone have advice for photographing constellations? Whenever I photograph starfields, the bright stars don't stand out as much as they do to the naked eye. For example, here's Orion. Is there any photography technique that emphasizes the bright stars more? This is 30 seconds at f/4.5 at ISO-3200. I don't have a tracking mount.

However, I do rather like how these two turned out (although I can't seem to make a panorama without distorting Orion):

Perhaps this tutorial or some of the other tips on this page can help.

COWABUNGA DUDES!
🥷🐢😬

Used PhotoPills to try and plan a milky way shot while I'm at my parents place that's near a (ugly as hell, rock filled) beach. Today at 4am in the 1c/32f weather was apparently the best opportunity and the BBC told me the skies would be beautifully clear. And they were! Until I got down there and there was just massive cloud cover in the only direction I needed. Sadly didn't shift, but I don't think the MW would've been particularly visible anyway so I just dealt with what I was given. First proper attempt at doing the night, so more of a learning experience than anything and hopefully some better luck next time (also hopefully with a real tripod and not my little gorilla pod!)
