I hope I never get to the point in my life where I can't justify buying pickles for myself

Buy them. Eat them. Pickles are great, and delicious. Pickles. (note: I don't know who that is, but it was one of the only pictures where you can truly appreciate the size of the jar, and I think that lady is probably pretty happy.) Also, I just wanted everyone to know that "professional pet food taster" is a real job and pays super well, which is stupid because if you just tested it with some animals, you wouldn't have to pay them at all. They are fine being paid in cat food, even dogs

I like that you need a doctoral degree. Salary's good and I'm sure it's entirely justified but I bet when these doctors get handed their first can of Alpo and a spoon, 100% of them think "yessiree that dissertation sure paid off".

Titus Sardonicus posted:I used to do that all the time. Yep, I concur, dat poo poo's pretty good. But now I'm the only one in the household who will eat bread n butter pickles, so I can't justify buying a jar if I'm the only one eating them. Dude, you would have AN ENTIRE JAR OF PICKLES FOR YOURSELF. I fail to see the problem here. As we speak I'm having a midday beer with a side of kimchi from my personal jar. It's wonderful when a delicious food scares the hell outta the rest of the family. Speaking of beer and kimchi, this is kimchi beer: This is a kimchilada: Titties might have to help me eat that last one. Yikes.

I really want to try kimchi sometime, but kimchi beer seems like too much fermented stuff in one mixture. I'd be worried about turning into a human/yeast hybrid.

Fishstick posted:Home made kombucha?. A 'detox' drink that can actually cause renal and liver issues. They got banned at my work because someone put one in a fridge and forgot about it. Some time later, somebody else opened the fridge and was greeted by an exploding glass bottle. I didn't know fermentation could get so violent, but who am I to question these safety topics.

My first, and only, time having kimchi was on a delicious breakfast burger, complete with a poached egg and hollandaise sauce. Being a little hungover I was skeptical, but I trusted the menu. No regrets! Related: the worst thing I've ever smelled in my life was fermented shrimp paste. The moment I cracked the jar, but before I even took the lid off, the indescribable smell filled the entire room. No picture does justice to the sour odour.

Good kimchi is pretty baller if you like that kind of taste. The best way to describe typical cabbage kimchi is cabbage flavored with vinegar, spices, and chili sauce. I personally enjoy pickled mushrooms a good deal.
