Liking MoS doesn't exclude you from partaking of that joy. You can hate the things you love.

They're really gonna shoot themselves in the foot with this movie that's getting good critical buzz and tracking ~$250-300 million opening weekend.

So Luke Cage just had it's release date dropped (September 30th), I'm totally ignorant of the character so I'm curious: Who would be his biggest villain that the show would use?

Look, it's very confusing that you've made all the stand-alone films the same color and universe name. You should really differentiate them somehow. The chart is illegible and therefore useless as it stands.

Unless you are proposing that there is a "Stand Alone Cinematic Universe", which would be by far the most interesting thing you've done in this thread.

I kind of want to find the reverse of that since I'm sure there is something just as dumb on the DC side as there is "smart" on the Marvel side.

Can you elaborate more on what you mean by "establishment", because I'm reading it like you're saying he's pro-"The MAN"?

Also, I just learned one of the tag lines for Shaft was "The mob wanted Harlem back, They got Shaft...... up to here" and that's a dope tag line.

All comic book movies are McDonald's. The only difference is that some of them are McCafe, with that veneer of respectability you get from selling coffee and danishes instead of cheeseburgers and hot pies. But it's still McDonald's.

Except Catwoman. Catwoman's the dumpster out back of a McDonald's.

Shaft was a suave black private detective, Luke Cage was an ex-con who couldn't get any work so he protected the hood for money under the table.

Thanks for indulging me. I haven't seen the original Shaft in years, so I looked up the plot synopsis and I had forgotten that he worked somewhat closely with a police detective and was considered more on the "up-and-up" then an underground savior.

Actually, it was Anarchy I was thinking of.

Batman does seem to have a lot of villains that crib one social anxiety or another, especially since they started using Joker as like this "ahead of the curve" new norm.

The biggest villain in that show would be that Luke Cage is played by Mike Colter, who proved himself an extremely dull performer in Jessica Jones.

Both universes have the potential for being good for different reason.

Marvel is more likely to be successful overall because they realize that comic books can be fun, and they don't shy from making things super comic booky.

Ahahaha if you think DC is less comic booky than Marvel

For the love of Christ look at Batman. He's wearing an updated Adam West Batman outfit.

We get to see this again.

His armor is totally impractical and ripped RIGHT out of a comic. No moving parts or cgi bits. Just big ole fat as gently caress bulk armor. How is this not comic book?

What do you mean comic book-y is a synonym for fun and silly that people usually use to refer to the antics of silver age stories, I only have heard it use to literally mean in a comic

Also lmao BvS batman is not wearing an updated Adam west suit

Except comic books CAN be serious affairs. They don't have to be silly. They can aspire to be more than just that.

I'm not saying the DC films are more comic booky either because that's stupid. They're both based on comic book super heroes and feature guys with ADJECTIVE MAN names running around punching people.

Also do you have some kind of brain problem where I have to explicitly explain every single thing I say, otherwise you get confused? Or are you just an idiot so I can make fun of you?

Because yes, the suit Batman is wearing in the DCU is, in fact, an Adam West style one. As in, it's a skin tight body suit with a cape and cowl. The only difference is how it looks and the materials used to make it. No other movie Batman EXCEPT Adam West has worn one like this.
