My company in Chicago is looking for someone. The role is half accounting/finance and half tech which is basically some IT management if you could call it that, you're the only IT resource for an office of half a dozen people. It also involves learning FileMaker which is what we use for a lot of work flows. Entry level so no experience required, pay also correspondingly low however. Posting is here.

The company I work for, also in Chicago still has an opening for a Senior DevOps Engineer. From what I understand, we're looking to get this position filled as soon as possible and are especially interested in candidates with a background in high-performance web applications or CI/CD pipelines. I would encourage you to apply even if you don't meet any of the other qualifications but have particular strengths in either of those two domains. I'd be happy to answer any questions you might have about the posting via email: stmarier at gmail.

Job seeker, with a heavy heart, but it's time to make a change. My experience: 9 years as a "wear all the hats" admin/manager. Phones (3com, don't laugh), servers (mix of Windows and Linux), desktops (Windows and Macs). Main office, 3 remote offices (London, Paris, Los Angeles). Heavily experienced in Exchange, Active Directory, Sonicwall, Backup Exec. Small rudimentary VMware setup. Basically we're a company where IT is kind of ignored and I've had to keep everything up and running on a small budget. Familiar with Cisco but I'm rusty. I'm personable, outgoing, and good at translating technical things into layman's terms. Bachelor degree in Network Design What I'm looking for: Open to anything that's a step up What I'm NOT looking for: Help desk, entry level support Where I live: New York, NY Where I'm looking: New York, NY When I can start: I would need about a month to make sure a proper replacement is hired. This place has been good to me so I want to make sure they're in good hands. Requirements: Full-time positions with benefits. Can be reached via: thread, PM

My company in Madison, WI is looking for a senior-level systems administrator with experience and/or extensive knowledge of the service provider aspects of...well, systems administration. We're a small ISP who also offers datacenter services (colo/hosting, currently Xen/FreeBSD based), and looking for someone to take charge of the design and implementation of these products. It's generally a nice place to work (good/fun people, good benefits, relaxed environment, beer fridge, etc), though you'll occasionally have to deal with annoying salespeople trying to sell stuff we can't do. PM me for details.

If you have no life sciences experience but have worked in regulated industries you'll probably be fine for the mid-range positions, but the Oracle DBA role probably will require some experience in the life sciences sphere. Jobs aren't always required to work out of their posted location -- mine was posted for NC but I work out of PA. I'm not sure this is the right thread, but I'm looking for an IT position as well so I can get my foot in the door and hopefully move up to having as much experience as some of you guys do! Experience: MS Office proficiency (2013/2016), basic troubleshooting and resolution experience with Windows and OS X systems, and significant troubleshooting and networking experience with Android and iOS devices. (Not sure how to translate a whole bunch of time at Geek Squad and then doing technical support for Apple. I've also been through Navy nuclear power training, if that speaks anything towards my merits.) Education: Currently attending an accredited technical institute in York, PA, and I have an A+, Sec+, Net+, and CCNA in the pipe. Where I Live: York, PA. Where I'm Looking: York, PA and surrounding areas. What I'm Looking For: Entry-level support, help desk, really anything I can get into so I can improve and grow as I better my education. Requirements: 40 hours a week. Healthcare. Being able to accommodate my school schedule (0730-1230 EST). That's pretty much it, although WFH/remote stuff would be nice (but is by no means necessary.) How To Reach Me: This thread, or email at matthewchrismer1991 at gmail If this is in the wrong thread, or just not worth anyone's time, I'll pull my post and everything, but I figured this was a better shot than just banging my head against Monster and Indeed all the time.

I haven't scrolled the entire thread but if you're in the northern/central NJ area, a buddy of mine works for an MSP/cloud desktop service that's hiring a bunch of technical roles. It runs the gamut from helpdesk and senior helpdesk up to engineering (focusing on either Citrix Xendesktop or MS RDS) with reasonable requirements for the roles. There's a few up there. Please PM me with your resume or email and I'll forward it to my buddy, who'll skip the application BS and get it right to HR. http://os33.com/company/careers/

Location: Houston Position: Sales Engineer quote:This position is part of the company's Enterprise Software Professional Services division and encompasses primarily technical sales-support and post-sale training. In this role, you will be responsible for engaging with prospective clients, understanding their business challenges, gathering technical and functional requirements, building and delivering proof of concept demonstrations and working with Solutions Engineers to write Scope of Work documents that describe the solutions being proposed. There's also a very clear advancement track towards the implementation side of the division. The Good: The company is a hardware and services provider, which is boooriiing, but the professional services division is purely software-oriented. It's a new division and it's exciting and awesome. We report to a super nice VP who gives us a lot of room to get our poo poo done and he trusts us 100%. There's a ton of opportunity to grow technical skills while learning a poo poo ton about how businesses in general operate. There's a lot of interesting projects and a lot of room to take initiatives to help expand the practice. The Bad: While we in the Pro Services division deal with cutting-edge technologies, most of the company has a very 80s-90s vibe to it. A lot of the sales folks know very little about technology, and definitely feel uncomfortable with software in general since they're used to selling hardware. Since you'll be working closely with some of these people, you need to be very patient and also very good at explaining technical topics to non-technical people (not necessarily the level of 6-year-olds, but close). Benefits: Incredible health insurance (free PPO!). 401(k) match is 100% up to 5% of your salary, along with the usual insurance policies. Start Date: ASAP Relocation Covered: Yes Contact: PM me and I'll provide the email address you can send your resume to.

I try to keep things interesting for everybody in the team as best I can so you don't feel stalled/stagnant, but there's a limit to what falls under desktop support. Title change type of growth typically only happens when a position you want is vacated, you apply, go through the normal interview process, and get offered the position. Haujobb applied for and got an opportunity in my org's Windows server team when it became vacant. Within the campus as a whole there are a lot of IT groups - not just my org. If you feel like it's time to grow and nothing is available within the org you can check out other on-campus IT groups for openings, stay on campus, and retain benefits / years of service. Many people have done this as they grow their careers.
