If fighting an Emperor isn't the time to summon that armada, there will never be a time when they're needed. Even with all the forces mentioned, it probably still won't be enough, they need the armadas help for sure.

I'm betting everything on Marineford War 2: Electric Boogaloo being that time the armada is called in. Nekomamushi and Kin'emon are the ones gathering their own troops to help out in Wano.

I'm hoping the armada is never actually called for, it just shows up out of the blue from time to time, growing in number and skill every time they appear.

That's actually plausible considering the Dressrosa Armada formed against Luffy's will.

Oda's focusing on all the characters that weren't there for all of Dressrosa. That's all the reason you need for the choice of who's going. It'll be interesting seeing Luffy handle things with the weaker half of his crew.

I think Jinbei will come back after this next arc with Big Mom once the whole crew is back together. They'll probably need him to fight Kaidou. I do wonder if the Straw Hat Armada will be summoned.

While they're the weaker half, they're largely the smarter half of the crew (save for Robin and Usopp)

I think it's been established that the discovery and identity of One Piece is such a big deal that the manga can't end without it dealing with the fallout of such for a final saga.

The information on the true world history maybe, but I still really don't think the True History and One Piece are the same thing.

Also, thinking on it, I'm still thinking that the series of events is probably less Strawhats get to Raftel>True history+One Piece Discovered>Mariejoa and big confrontation. I think it's probably more along the lines of Strawhats discover where Raftel is>Every motherfucker on the ocean races to Raftel>Giant clusterfuck at Raftel involving Blackbeard, Revolutionaries, WG etc.

They're probably different things, but that means the One Piece itself doesn't need to be anything fancy at all. I think it'll something extremely simple and personal to Roger (hat or coat or whatever), that people around the world (or at least the more powerful people in the world) would recognise as his and thus prove the wearer to be the Pirate King. A symbolic treasure rather than literal treasure, because what could possibly be grand enough to wow us at this stage?

Plus Luffy wouldn't particularly care about actual treasure; the One Piece is his life's goal, so it has to speak to his heart for him to gain any meaningful resolution to his voyage.

It literally can't end with everyone at Raftel since only the Strawhats "deserve" it, and the story has spent ages hammering in that you can't just sail there and anyone who gets there deserves to be the Pirate King. If Blackbeard gets there, then he deserves the title just as much as Luffy, regardless of who found the road poneglyphs first. And we know Blackbeard doesn't deserve it already. If someone else besides the Strawhats and Blackbeard get there, then they deserve it too. It can't do that without some bad writing that betrays the entire thrust of the story so far.

His Life's Goal is to be the Pirate King, more free than anyone else and to have a great adventure. One Piece doesn't matter beyond being something to search for. It's a nice thing to search for, and he'll be happy with whatever, but the search and what it represents are more important than the goal.

I can see Blackbeard attempting to follow the Strawhats to Raftel using sneaky underhanded methods. They wouldn't get there through a legit means, but through "cheating" which would demonstrate he is undeserving of the title. A callback to the way he took out Whitebeard.

Yeah, Luffy wants the One Piece because it's the Pirate King's, it could be a paperclip for all he cares. Or a single gold coin Skies of Arcadia style.

I dunno, the story ending at Raftel is just a gut feeling I have. I'm hesitant to try and predict what will happen in One Piece, Oda is a good enough writer who introduces enough swerves my power to predict shounen plots is limited, especially on something so far out. Hell look at the Road Poneglyphs for a recent example that's a big game changer to how this whole thing works we only recently discovered.

It doesn't matter about the method, he's still there regardless. And getting there is more important than how he did so. Hence why he's still a Yonkou despite only taking out Whitebeard falsely and then properly beating Marco. People don't care about the method, only the results. And being Pirate King is at least partially a social thing that needs acknowledgement by others to work.

It's not up to you though. Or me. Or any readers. It's up to Oda and the people in-universe. They accepted him as a Yonkou despite his methods so there's no reason they wouldn't accept him as Pirate King.

Blackbeard is a pirate you guys.. I think the whole thematic juxtaposition between him and Luffy will come to a head at the end of the series... but pirates do whatever they want, however they want. right? that's kind of a huge theme in one piece.

Gonna be hard to claim to be Pirate King when he's had his face smashed in by the guy with the One Piece who is also the actual pirate King tho.

No-one knows what One Piece is. Blackbeard could just get up after Luffy leaves, then claim anything is it and intimidate people in to accepting it because he's more aggressive than Luffy.

Also: see the point about it being bad writing regardless given how the story has hit the idea that only the Pirate King deserves to get there and you become Pirate King by getting there. Not by getting there X way, just by getting there full stop.

Oda can do it anyway he wants, but I can judge him for how he does it too. And the story has been out-growing Luffy's dreams with years.

Seems like Roger set up this whole thing as one big Tutorial For Being a Master Of The World. In order to solve the puzzle of Raftel and get the treasure, you need to learn all these things about the world, like learning to read the glyphs, that will help you be an awesome pirate after the fact. And by putting said information in the most dangerous locations in the world, he's weeding out all the unmotivated.

I'm reminded of stories like the Westing Game, in which the only way to inherit the eccentric millionaire's money is to be more clever than all the other heirs.
