Easiest way would be to import them to your google account, or just add your Microsoft account to the new phone. I'm a little confused on how to do that given my Live login seems to be my gmail account.

I literally just got the 5X and have only set up my gmail account on it. I'm thinking I was very confused when I set up my Microsoft account.

Well you can technically use another e-mail account to log into a Microsoft account, however whichever one you have been (hopefully have been) syncing your contacts with on your 1020, you need to setup to sync on your 5X. Once you do that all your contacts, etc should sync up and be peachy.

I managed to pull them from Outlook by setting up an alias in Outlook, then going to Gmail's contacts page from the inbox webpage and having it pull from Outlook. Seems to have done the trick.

There you go. Yea enjoy the Nexus as that will be the closest you get to a Pure Android experience similar to the pure Windows Mobile experience you had on the 1020, only with more app support and 3rd party Roms/Kernels/etc. (Reccomend installing the Pure Nexus rom as it gives you a few really nice features, "Pure" Nexus doesn't have. ) I still like having my family on Windows because when it works, they can't get into any trouble, but with Verizon having nothing coming down the pipe that looks like an upgrade to the Nokia Icon or M8 For Windows, I pretty much might have to give up and let them make the switch until Microsoft gets their head out of their rear end for the 3rd time straight with both software and now, Hardware.

Installed the fast track .1000 update this morning, promising updates to Outlook/Calendar among others. I can now no longer launch Outlook. Unfortunately I really need it for work so I will have to dig out another phone somewhere until I can get that resolved

I had to update Outlook Mail and Calendar in the store before I could open the calendar app after upgrading. After that, everything worked fine.

I have an old Lumia 635 that I picked up to play with Windows Phone with. Is the 640 the phone I want if I'm looking for a cheap upgrade? I assume going to 1GB of RAM would be a huge improvement (especially for Edge), never mind the jump to 720p.

For an inexpensive phone, it is pretty good. The camera is good enough. The speaker is loud and clear. And the screen is great for the price.

I'm still on the latest 8.1 on my 930. A few weeks ago I woke up and found that all my groups had been cleared of contacts. Shrugged and added the contacts back into them. Last night I noticed that in addition to them being cleared, they're now also unpinned from my start screen. Any idea what might have caused that?

WM10 maps app uses HERE still. They are going to overhaul the maps app "soon." HERE will still work until June 30th.

I just want one goto map app so that directions or calendar or addresses in email or Cortana open in the same goddamn thing. 8.1 was weirdly split - took me a while to realise that my star fav places were missing some of the time, and searching for "home" brought up "home depot" or a bar or cofeeshop called Home or something equally 2nd choice.

In fairness to Xylo, HERE is pretty bad in the US compared to other apps. Waze is good. The default is good, but it interrupts too often. I don't need to know to follow the course of the road for ten miles. Let me know when I'm close.

Maneki Neko posted:640 is an upgrade in every way, except for the fluorescent-yellow backplate deficiency. I'm not surprised that the 512MB 635 isn't getting the final version of WM10 (Edge is basically unusable), but given that they're already maintaining a branch for the 1GB model, you'd hope they would allow some kind of unsupported upgrade path.

I thought they made a big deal about how every phone running Windows 8/8.1 would be able to upgrade to 10? I hope there's some way to force it onto devices not on their list even if they don't make it available through auto update... Or at least allow devices not on the list that are running the preview to upgrade to final.

I just downloaded the upgrade app and it immediately updated my phone. So that's nice. W10 looks pretty good. Less nice is that I seem to be unable to connect my outlook account to my phone. Gmail worked fine, but it's refusing to set up outlook.
