Uh, is there a reason why I don't get the talk icon for some people? There are some people just sittin' on a bench or walking around that I cannot talk to.

That's likely it - once you've talked to someone a few times they won't talk to you again that day. Though there's some situations where a character will just repeat their same lines, usually when it's specifically about what they're doing.

Also I have to say losing 10-15 items when dying is pretty much bullshit and always results in ALT+F4. I decided just to kill some time in the skull cavern before the halloween festival but I didn't stock up on a whole lot of healing at the time, and just whiffed an attack to a flying bullshit dragon and lost 15 items. One of which included the galaxy sword and some other stuff so yeah, that was a waste of a day.

Well yeah I was being a bit greedy and it was more a spur of the moment thing and was about to leave to go back to town. I didn't get anything good during the run but if I had I'd be a little disappointed. A bit of a waste of time anyways. A higher gold fee or something would be fine but losing items (including your sword) just seems oddly punitative for this type of game and might as well just say "You lose! Game will reload save in 3...2...1"

I'm not too sure. I had regular trees grow fine right on ponds but you really can't rely on that information for fruit saplings. I honestly wouldn't risk it.

Nope. I did that the first time and works fine. I ended up regretting putting them there later because I'd rather have thrown them on the SE corner in a 5x6 arrangement and using the space near my house for a keg barn or something instead.

Also I did something stupid and put stone roads all around my fruit trees and was wondering why they weren't growing but the stone paths count as not being free space so it won't grow. I wasted like 10+ days waiting for them to grow. BUT, once they're fully grown you can put the stone paths down again and they still produce fruit.

The easiest way to get large quantities of fish is to make or buy crab pots and just put them in your ponds right there on the farm. They'll catch snails, periwinkles, and crayfish, which are all considered "fish" and can be turned into fertilizer as well as sashimi or anything else that requires a nonspecific fish.

Man I didn't think of this. Having fished up nothing but trash with a rod I figured it'd be more of the same with a crab pot.

I mean, it is. But once you've got four or so crab pots in your pond that's around two fish a day.

So, I was gonna totally romance Maru, because she seems cool, and then I went to see her mom about some improvements to my house, and Demetrius waited until I was alone in the kitchen with him and said "Nobody's gonna get in the way of my daughter being amazing."

I... do not have time to deal with crazy inlaws. I'm debating between Penny, Leah and Abigail now.

How does the game decide when your tilled soil reverts to untilled soil? Is it random, or is it "Must be touching other untilled soil"? I thought putting paths around my main field would help, but I'm not sure if it does.

he's not wrong that you marrying her would absolutely ruin her life and deprive the world of a demonstrably inspired engineer.

honestly, the only person it isn't currently kind of a tragedy to marry is haley, because she's kind of an airhead and has nothing going for her. so while sure, you ruin her life, she doesn't exactly have much of a life to ruin.

Also Maru is brilliant enough to construct an intelligent, self-aware robot capable of unassisted space travel in her goddamn basement, and if you marry her, she frequently dedicates a full day at a time to just tinkering in her little lab area to the side. So I mean, she's clearly not terribly constrained by her choice of where to live; it's not like she suddenly stops being a genius because she likes living on a peaceful farm near her family.

Hell, with ancient fruit wine funds at her disposal, she could probably found Stardew University if she was so inclined.

So, what exactly makes kegs out to be one of the best moneymaking methods? I've not yet managed to get up the stuff to make one. Just managed to get to level 40 in the mine to get some iron ore, and I'm barely starting to feel like I have a handle on things.

Wine made from fruit is worth 3x the price of the fruit. So if you have enough kegs to cover all your fruit, you're tripling your money there. With the popularity of blueberries, cranberries, and endgame ancient fruit, that's a good deal.

Also, hops, which produce every day, produce pale ale which sells very well. So you can also make good money off a brewery as well.

While I'm glad produce doesn't rot, it is fairly silly that I'm sitting on around three thousand bundles of hops that will never go bad.

Look, I didn't quite realize every day meant every day. I bought two hundred seeds. Summer was hell, even after a meteor crashed into the hops field. The keg nerf means I'll probably be making pale ale for literal years while I ramp up production to meet my sudden supply.
