If you're using Firefox then there was a bug they recently fixed with GIFs (and possibly Webms) where Firefox would just pause for 10-30 seconds if there were lots of GIFs on a long page. It's been fixed in the nightlies but no idea when it'll be rolled out to the masses.

Also GIF's problem is that it was designed for the early 90s when you didn't expect to have 200 of them on a page and there is no such thing as hardware acceleration for them.

Sir Unimaginative posted:Firefox deploys primary updates roughly every six weeks (similar to Chrome) and this is why I use SALR's 'convert GIF to WebM when possible" option. iOS' awful.app (which is lovingly maintained by some goon) does a real good job with this i'd guess that another goon doing the android awful.apk is doing the same but yeah a page full of 100mb gifs isn't healthy for any browser i can't imagine ie, or ff, safari or goog is set up to handle the load from 40 posts of giant gifs funny how awful.app loads some because they're packaged a certain way and marks tiny non-animated smileys as clickable because they're .gifs but things are improving if i get real salty about it i can switch back to a lap/desktop all in all things are running well
