Yep, anything that's considered a vehicle. Most cyclists may not realize it, as they blow past a stop sign and get turned into mush by an SUV, but they are absolutely vehicles that must obey all traffic laws. Basically if you can't legally take it on a sidewalk, it's a vehicle

You can actually bike on the sidewalk in many states (usually as long as right-of-way is given to pedestrians) and there are specific bike related legal code in most places.

Bicycles arent vehicles in Illinois so you can't get a DUI on them (well, the police will give you one, you can beat it in court)

As to the Moorish temple, I'll look it up. Sadly I'd have to go pull pleadings from the county building because they aren't online, but they do some neat stuff claiming to be native Americans with a made up Indian sounding name that I don't think the other sovcits do.

I'm reading through some of the complaints lodged against Joe Palmer.

Apparently they wanted to do the road block in Grant County, which is Palmer's territory, but had to do it in Harney because they did not trust Palmer or want to work with him. He's also kind of a dick and purposely cut off jail access to John Day city's chief of police because he ran against him.

I guess there's also some software called LEDS that the local law enforcement uses, I think to track paperwork and dispatches. They wanted to know who at Palmer's office would have access to it, since it's sensitive info, and he just sent them back a fax with, "Anyone I deputize" scrawled on it. He's apparently big on deputizing citizens. He never provided a list of who he wanted to give that LEDS access to.

On top of that he purposely went to the road block at some point so he could be photographed as being part of the traffic stop, but was getting messages on social media by people who saw him at the meeting Finicum and Co. were driving to. In uniform.

I don't know exactly what laws he has broken but it sounds like he's pretty hosed for being so pro-militant.

Federal, not state. And the part that he bolded is much broader than how you're reading it, and is what matters here. The text of that bill could be the unabomber manifesto punctuated with a goatse, and only Congress would have the ability to do something about it. A prosecution of a legislator by the executive for the content of a bill cannot happen.

The legislation I linked to is federal, introduced by utah's four congressional representatives.

It's not against the law to propose terrible bad legislation, they're just assholes for doing it. I didn't mean to imply they're criminals, just assholes.

The only legislators that could potentially face criminal liability over any of those are ones who directly participated in the standoffs, like Fiore camping out at the Bundy ranch for a week in 2014 or Matt Shea acting as their representative at Malheur. Their actions are what they would be charged for, not any legislative thing they did. For what it's worth I think it is really unlikely any elected official gets charged with anything. The boundary between a politician advocating policy and being a participant in a crime is fuzzy, especially when their participation was primarily talking not gunslinging. It would just make an already complex (but overwhelming) case messier than it needs to be.

We don't need to have that dialogue because it's obvious, trivial, and has already been had a thousand times.
For those who were curious, the previously censored name from indictments has been revealed, along with the why.

quote:

A Montana man accused of disturbing a sacred Burns Paiute archeological site by using heavy equipment to dig a giant latrine for protesters became the 26th person charged publicly in the occupation of the Malheur National Wildlife Refuge.

A judge on Monday unsealed the name of Jake Ryan that had been concealed in an indictment filed March 8 in U.S. District Court in Oregon.

Ryan and fellow occupier Travis Cox are the only two of the 26 defendants who haven't been arrested, said Assistant U.S. Attorney Craig Gabriel.

Prosecutors in Portland wrote in court papers that it was no longer necessary to hide Ryan's identity because his family knows about the indictment and his family has hired an attorney for him.

The federal indictment charges Ryan and one other person -- Sean Anderson -- with "depredation of government property" for allegedly digging two trenches or latrines next to a makeshift camping area at the refuge and causing more than $1,000 worth of damage.
