I watched the video and imo it was a mistake for the feds to shoot at the van after it had stopped before anyone got out, but it was a bigger mistake for Finicum to keep reaching.

Not quite. First, it only applies to members of Congress, not state representatives. Members of congress are protected from arrest when going to and from Congress for anything but treason and felonies - for example, if one shoplifts on the way to Congress you can charge them with a crime but you cannot arrest them. However, the speech and debate clause is different. It means that Congressmen can't be charged with a crime (or even questioned) based on any speech they make in Congress. It has been used to read the Pentagon Papers into the public record, for example. In all three examples, the congressman can't be arrested. The FBI would certainly use the pricing scheme for selling votes and child pornography as the basis for a search warrant (or try - I'm not sure if "shall not be questioned" extends to barring its use to secure a search warrant) and try to catch the congressman doing something outside of speaking in congress.

If it's really, really heinous, like avowed kiddy porn, the other members of congress can vote for expulsion for the offending person. At that point all bets are essentially off from a criminal standpoint.

I don't thin you can prosecute someone for what they said on the floor of Congress once they leave Congress. That would completely undermine the speech and debate clause; it is intended to give Congress the latitude to do business without fear of reprisal by the branch of government with the guns. Expelling the member would just mean they aren't in Congress any more. For instance, it was not an option for the administration to arrest Mike Gravel the day after he left office for reading the Pentagon Papers into the record.

It's a categorical ban, that only Congress may punish people for speeches made in Congress. The fact that Congress has, at best, the power to expel the person doesn't change that.

Was it Frye who was on the phone with someone and said it looked great and better than they found it, and the dude in the background just started coughing and making dismissive, dubious noises hinting for David to maybe change the subject? That was pretty great. It was pretty funny how they kept insisting that the place was great and workers were free to come in and work and they hadn't touched anything despite not a single person believing them, and in the end with a back hoe digging up grave sites in the background

I did that for years as a cost-saving measure when I still smoked, although I used much better tobacco than what that looks like. There is a little mechanical gizmo that pushes the tobacco into the tubes and leaves you with a pretty normal filtered cigarette if you know what you are doing.

I really did laugh out loud when some visitor who was super sympathetic to the cause was on social media reassuring everyone that the place was super clean and being taken care of, and there were "daily chores." The word was so strange and quaint, and I was puzzled who he was trying to impress. Chores are a list of things parents force their kids to do on an arbitrary basis to show them how to take care of their living spaces because otherwise they'll just stew in filth. Any adult has probably learned to just continually take care of themselves instead of thinking "Well it's Monday, what chores do I have today?" Turns out they're children.

You see in the military, it's drilled into your head in boot camp: "cleanliness is continuous, maintenance is continuous, improvement is continuous". Unfortunately most of the patriots are lying about military service and never learned this lesson, therefore they just dig a hole in an indian burial ground and poo poo in it. If I recall the latrine guide correctly, a 1 foot deep hole, the width of a folding shovel, and 4 feet long, will support 4-5 people for up to 4 days. at which point you cover it up (ideally with lime). Patriots: SHITTER'S FULL? gently caress IT GET THE BACKHOE.
