I can't cite many solid specifically great reasons for why I want to see an official Raven's Claw other than a more maneuverable potentially more shooty version of the HWK-290 would be cool imho.

I'd love more female pilots. Netrunner has a fantastically diverse cast of characters, so I'd love if they could inject some more of that into X-Wing. There's no reason they can't make up their own pilots; they made up a whole new ship with the Raider.

Doesn't help that most of the pilot art is just whatever ship they're in flying around.

whaaaaaat

Okay. So I started playing Netrunner, and the diversity present in the cast of Runner IDs is frankly pretty awesome. I'm currently using an Indian boxer hacker lady, and she is my loving favorite. It's cool because you get to see the runner's face and artwork, and since you "are" that runner for a given hand of the game, it's cool to be able to see yourself reflected in some of the awesome cards - I mean, I guess that's the main thrust behind increasingly diverse representation in fictional media. I'm a white dude, so I have literally never had a problem being represented. I'm aware of that privilege, and I try not to take it for granted.

Making remarks about having more female pilots would be more akin to asking for female Corporations. Here is what a corp ID looks like:

I don't think it would make a ton of sense to say "boy, I sure wish there were more female corporation identities!" because that's nonsensical. If you didn't know going into Star Wars what sex a given EU character is, how would you even know what to complain/not complain about??? Also it's clearly something people on the internet feel the need to defend their medium about - some of the first few replies to "more girls in wangs!!!" was literally "here is a list of girls in wangs" - but it just feels so pointless

In summary, if you want more girls in X-Wing, commission CLC to paint a waifu on your Falcon

This is completely wrong and stupid. Corporations aren't people, whereas the pilots of spaceships are. There is an underrepresentation of women in Star Wars, and it's a problem. A problem that FFG, as a content creator, can help solve. And people do really notice. One of the main complaints my partner had about X-Wing is that there aren't a lot of great female pilots for her to play, whereas all the top-tier lists are populated by male characters. Diversity is one of her listed reasons why she plays Netrunner over X-Wing.

Equating X-Wing pilots with Netrunner corporations just because you can't see their face on a card is really super dumb.

As a side note - I can't be the only one that would feel as uncomfortable looking at a weird anime girl on a spaceship as I would if I saw the ridiculous confederate flag Falcon.

that's like arguing about gender on upgrade cards, though, w/r/t corp CEOs (who are, again, diverse as hell) - like where do you draw the line on this, i'm not asking rhetorically. is it important that alt-art rebel VI is a girl pilot? is it triggering that the female pilots that do get in alt-arts are uniformly super attractive? why don't we have more black characters depicted on alt-arts? i mean FFG is incredibly good about depicting diverse universes, that is sorta my point, how this is a thing people are legitimately weird about i just don't understand

Except that we know that Luke, Wedge, Han, Vader, Wes, Tycho, Soontir, etc are all male, regardless of their pilot card only showing a ship.

The pilot card showing "just a ship" is irrelevant to the fact that the majority of pilots are male and why do you care so much that people want more female pilots?

This is actually insane, firstly because we only know that most of the pilots are male or female because of their depictions in other media; besides, where does this argument go? what gender does "Red Ace" identify as?

also, if you are turned off from a game because your given race or gender or whatever is underrepresented competitively that just seems completely ridiculous. so companies need to balance who is good or bad in a given meta-game state with their made-up depiction on the card?

this is literally the inverse of that terrible, terrible reddit post where someone called Netrunner "misandrist" because female runner IDs dominate (used to dominate? i forgot the date) the top tier of play, and male runners suck, so FFG is obviously biased against women
