KozmoNaut posted:Oh, right. Comprehensive means the same in Australia. The US is just weird with insurance... Here, insurance for health/people/hospital is compulsory (third party). Insurance for anything you damage is a very good idea (third party property; can add on extra fire and theft coverage, or not at fault involved with unlicensed driver crash, but doesn't cover your own car otherwise). Comprehensive covers everything including your own car even if at fault. Three simple policies, one mandatory to pay hospital bills; one minimal coverage which is good if driving a disposable car which you are willing to scrap yourself if at fault - but don't want to be out of pocket if just plain stolen ; last policy (comprehensive) if you want to be covered for everything.

My old Thunderbird had a crotch vent. It was glorious on the highway. Cruise on, legs stretched out, nuts delightfully chilled.

You have to zoom in to appreciate the stupidity. There are wheels under the driver and passenger frame rails, but the car isn't actually resting on them. Plus it's on an incline and the front is only held up with a scissor jack (under the license plate). Part of me wanted to warn him, and part of me wanted to stay and watch.
