Nah, it's a litle obtuse. You have to go down into the basement and find the evacuation protocols in the security room, then take out Novikov's bodyguard. He'll have a phone you can steal, which you can use to call in an evacuation and have both Victor and Dahlia escorted to the safe room. If you eliminate the bodyguard first it breaks the sequencing and no phone will appear even if you get the protocols after, which is stupid. Bit of an oversight on IO's part I think

at least with the walkie talkies in blood money (a murder of crows) they at least dropped them, even if they didn't trigger properly and highlight targets on the map

This does not make sense when, again, aggregate indicia also indicate improvements. The belief that things are worse is false. It remains false.
Cole's lines are much better than Busey's, so I'm voting for him. Gary Busey is basically already dead, anyways.

So I bought new Hitman starter pack last night on a whim, because I didn't want to drop 60 bucks on an impulse buy when Dark Souls III is about to eat my life. I've played a good half-dozen hours so far, and I think it's really loving good. I don't care if I'm gonna end up paying more than full price because I bought the starter pack, if the rest of the levels are half as good as this it will be well worth the money.

Edit: Hi thread! The only Hitman game I've really played a bunch of is Blood Money, which I really liked. After absolution, which I played some of, maybe half? I figured we never get another Hitman on par with Blood Money, but this is shaping up to be as good as, if not better. I'm going to try to contain my hype until I hear more about the other levels, because at this point my only fear is that they really frontloaded their content.

Plus I've already spent like 15 hours on Paris + the Tutorials alone, so

Agreed, most of the story should just be focused on the targets' background.

Also I want to see levels where you encounter other Assassins as well, like in Blood Money.

Judging from the last cutscene after the Paris mission I think you might be in luck. It looks like there's going to be some loose narrative that ties together the different assassinations, I hope it doesn't get much more heavy than that though.

It sucks that this game basically throws out the suspend/resume capability of the PS4 by crying that "you're not online, I'm closing out this game." It's obvious that it should preserve the game and try to reconnect so it can resume.

Every time my PS4 suspends, whatever game I'm in complains that it's offline. MGS5 makes me go through this tedious menuing for similar reasons to get my funbux that are only available online. Every Internet-connected program I use in my life except for PS4 games attempt to reconnect automatically. What is that about?

And Bloodborne doesn't complain, so at least one game out there has loving fixed it, and the other people are just lagging behind on this incredibly obvious feature.

I bought it on day one and there was a window of about four hours where it wouldn't let me play. And I tried a few times throughout the whole afternoon/evening on day 2 and didn't get on at all. Been fine for me since then, but I haven't played it a whole lot.

It's only annoying because there is literally no reason for this game to require always-online. There's no multiplayer, there's no real grindy element that people might cheat their way past unless they're really strange and don't actually like playing the game and just want to get trophies, and who gives a gently caress if people get trophies that they haven't really 'earned'?

Using the battle axe is really fun. Throwing it is hilarious and I don't think it will ever get old to me, throwing any weapon in this game is amazing.

I also love the specific dialog towards you if you've got silly costumes or weapons:

I like chucking screwdrivers at people. They are loving everywhere and make for a silent ranged instant-kill. But throwing fire extinguishers at people is pretty great too. Anything, really.

How is the game running for everyone on PC? I have a decent enough rig with an i5 3570k and 980 Ti and the game runs like sh*t in the Paris mission.

I see drops to 35 and rarely does it go about 65. Benchmarking shows a min of 2 FPS!?!? Directx 12 adds 2-3 frames on average but crashes to desktop frequently.

How about the AMD people? Is it better optimized on your GPU?

Not unreasonable. If doing the Paris mission killing only the two targets in 30 minutes, which it can take if you are being careful, that is 4 kills per hour.

For the 293 others giving just under 150 per hour, that's just a statistical anomaly.

An inconsistent frame rate is gonna look poo poo regardless of the numbers, duder. If it was locked at 30 it'd be better than it randomly dipping down to 35 from 60.

Trust me, you are taking this a lot more seriously then I am.
I ended up locking it down to 30, the second vsync option does that. It's a puzzle game so 30fps is fine for me.

When someone spends enough to get a higher end GPU, the expectation is to play most games at 60 FPS, minimum. Most modern games are able to maintain 70FPS+ on my PC when maxed out. So, I was just commenting that this game is pretty badly optimized in comparison.

Just wanted to know if others were facing similar issues. Not starting a frame rate argument at all :)

Yes, I found this to be the best solution for this game. Locking at 30fps with everything maxed gives a much smoother experience.

55-60 fps on Paris (real mission, not benchmark) in dx11 with a amd 290X tri.

Another unfunny, threadshitting knob-end.
Hitman seems a lot more CPU intensive than GPU. Most performance issues caused with modern cards are evidently dipping when panning the camera/running towards LOD/Shadow heavy areas, primarily crowds. There's probably also some issues from the (actually pretty ambitious) reflections going on, since they're not just simple cubemaps/screenspace things and are actually lower-res rerenders of the scene, seemingly with most lighting and shadows intact.

This would also explain why my AMD FX-fitted PC gets way better performance on DX12 than DX11 (ignoring crashes and buggy stuttering), but peeps like Digital Foundry get like 1-2 FPS boost at most on a more single-core capable Intel CPU.
