Y'all should build the sonar thing for the seamoth, you can find interesting caves with it.

I built my habitat basically right under the escape pod and also put the vehicle bay just a few meters away and it's really strong- way under the crush/crack limit. However, when I built my Cyclops, the pressure of it dropping into the water must have been huge because upon returning to my base right afterward it was flooded to the top.

Anyone else having strange texture errors and vibrating seas? I've tried google, steam forums, the official forums, seems a lot of people are having the same issues, I've tried forcing the graphics settings via the f3 menu, using the stable and experimental builds. Please help, I'd like to be illogicality terrified of the depths like the total goonfuck i am

The newest experimental revision really changes up how the game plays. Now fragments only spawn in wrecks, lifepods and near the Aurora. I wouldn't necessarily switch over to experimental mode (I think every spawn point near the Aurora is set to Reapers Leviathans right now) but the next stable update should be a good time to start a new game.

You know, the whole "cool poo poo being in super dangerous areas" thing kinda bugs me. I understand it from the "It's a game, progression!" perspective, but from the "The ship crashed and various parts got thrown around and you get to scan them to teach your replicator how to make them" perspective it's irritating. I've decided that the survivor must be the biggest rear end in a top hat in the universe, and the only reason you're the sole survivor is that everyone else banded together during the crash to throw the good stuff overboard in the largest concentration of sharks they could find. "So we're in agreement then? gently caress Bob. Drag that cyclops console over here, I think I see a reaper."

Welp, UW just made the early game like 10 times harder. No, I don't mean the fragment change. You know those giant coral tubes that are studded with limestone? All the nodes have been removed. You actually have to scrounge and cave to get copper now.

Thanks for the recommendations! Found the mod station and filtration units in the koosh! I'm basically set to be "done" for a while once I check out it's recipes. So here's a question: If you could choose any one material in the game to find a crate absolutely full of, what would it be? For me, it would be silver, hands down. There's just never enough of it, and it gets used in so many recipes!

Man, I've always got lockers full of copper, limestone is everywhere and it's 50% copper! Also, I've decided that hanging stingers are the most dangerous wildlife in the game. I've died 4+ times to them now, and nothing to anything else. They've even killed my seamoth twice by poisoning it so hard it exploded in a matter of seconds.

I'm following the official forums and some of things the dev say make it pretty clear the game will end up pretty restricted. They clame that they don't want to do more subs becaus e making subs is long and they don't have the finances. I can understand that somewhat except I wonder how they coded the subs so that it's a massive undertaking to add another one. But the procedural vs hand crafted world is what I think will make the replayability less. I love that because they handcraft everything it looks fantastic. But they say the final map should be around 4km/4km because it is difficult and long to create. If it was procedural there could be no limit. So they claim to not have that much time to add subs. Are against weapons. Are not sure about mods. And made a decision that makes it so the map will remain somewhat smallish for ever. It will still be a great game. But probably not one I play for hundreds of hours like some other sandboxes. Wich is a shame.

Yup, these are all things that will make this game fun for a brief period, but eventually will be taken off your hdd and you'll move on. That's ok since it's definitely worth the price. I just hope they or somebody else comes up with a similar sub game in the future with more depth and things to do.

I started up a new save with the farming update. The fun is gone. I can't for the life of me find any solar panel fragments. Now I've got four or five air tanks and I've been diving to the wreck in the grassy plateau and scan things until I die. I can't find any fragments that would let me add power to my base. All the wrecks besides the one in the grassy plateau just have chairs and desks. The game is way too tedious for me now. They need to move around fragments so you can at least get a base going without having to cheat with respawns or having to run down to a fragment, scan a bit and then scramble back for air.

Yeah, I'm probably going to make a big effort post on the forums soon and one of my points is that you absolutely need to start with enough to make a base from the start. Maybe a small bioreactor that takes 1 creepvine sample and 1 writhing weed tendril to make 50 power. Something crappy, but still good enough for you to get started.

That's really weird as I didn't have any problems at all with finding piles of solar panel fragments. My biggest issue was finding seamoth fragments and then those drat moonpool fragments. As mentioned already, you basically need the moonpool to get the moonpool fragments in the grand reef unless you load up on air tanks, which really seems counter intuitive to me. Fantastic game though, I'm really enjoying it and can't wait until the next update.

There's a way to get out of walking mode, as long as you have the materials to create a hatch and corridor, or if there's a hatch nearby. The moment you try to enter the hatch it should kick you back to the water in swimming mode. If you don't have the materials or your base is too far for your oxygen you're boned, but it's something. It looks like the game has at least two states for the protagonist: walking and swimming, triggered by using hatches or passing surfaces designated as water surfaces. Maybe it also tracks being inside bases as a third state. This system would explain how the moonpool transition works, and that it's just a change in physics and available controls. Maybe some creatures are set to only hurt the player in swimming mode?

Just enable the console. Press F3 and unchecked disable console. Press F8 to get a mouse cursor so you can do the previous step. Close all the windows and press ~ or ` to get the console. You can then use various warp commands. You can also use "spawn titanium #" and the same for glass to get materials to make a hatch or whatever. If it looks like you're not typing anything, don't worry, you are.

The roar changed after a little while of shocking but the drat things would keep on running out of draw distance and resetting.

I just switched over to experimental and I'm liking getting fragments from wrecks better than pixel hunting over massive areas only to have nearly everything be for stuff you've already got the blueprint for. I feel like my laser cutter isn't working the way it should, though. The cuttable panels are those slightly shiny ones with the red dots on one side, right? My cutter makes noises but doesn't do anything or drain its battery when I use it.
