Salman Taseer, governor of Punjab, wanted to reform Pakistan's blasphemy laws after Asia Bibi, a Christian, was sentenced to death. One of Taseer's bodyguards, Mumtaz Qadri, assassinated him in response. Qadri was executed last month. Today a suicide bombing occurred at a park in Lahore, capital of Punjab, killing mostly women and children. Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif previously had been accused of tolerating militancy in exchange for relative peace in Punjab. 25,000 demonstrators now are surrounding the Parliament House in Islamabad in support of "hero of Islam" Qadri. The army has been requested to restore order. Possible overthrow imminent?

Are there crimes for which the only appropriate punishments are unethical? If you're responsible for the violent deaths of several dozen people, primarily women and children, is life imprisonment or a clean and relatively painless execution an inadequate response? Should we be setting more people on fire? Pic unrelated.

Well, filthy christians, and other non-muslims, shouldn't be drinking the same water as honorable and decent people. quote:Noreen was involved in an argument with a group of Muslim women with whom she had been harvesting berries after the other women grew angry with her for drinking the same water as them. She was subsequently accused of insulting the Islamic prophet Muhammad, a charge she denies, and was arrested and imprisoned. In November 2010, a Sheikhupura judge sentenced her to death. If executed, Noreen would be the first woman in Pakistan to be lawfully killed for blasphemy.

Wait till they find out gay and lesbian people can go into bathrooms and LOOK AT DONGS AND HEE-HAWS WITH IMPUNITY. Although I think that'll result in having public bathrooms staffed 24/7 with an opposite-sex person at the door with whom you must totally make out with in order to enter. Don't worry, good people of NC - we know this person to actually be a female. If you see HER in the ladies room just smile to yourself and know the government is working for you.
