Yeah this is cool as hell and will allow me to clear out some old orange gear in my bays that's become Bind to Legacy. Though I agree, I did feel quite a bit special running around in my Tionese Supercommando look on my Marauder. :D

When googling for info about the game, it is very hard what with it having changed so much over the years. Is there one site (a wiki, guide, something) that has kept up to date on stuff? Seems like everything I check is at least behind somewhere.

Also, Republic/Imperial classes are 100% mirrored, right? Zero difference at all between a Smuggler and Imperial Agent?

99%. In some cases an ability will do physical or bleed on one side and elemental on the other.

The OP is pretty up top date on current state.

Dulfy.com has you covered for end game stuff and class rotations (which don't actually matter unless you do nightmare content at end game).

Yes, classes from both sides are mirrors. They might look different (i.e. assault cannon commando vs dual pistol merc) but are the same.

Okay, this is mostly what I was wondering about. Saw that they used different weapons but figured that was it.

Played the first two months of release, then stopped and just came back. LOVE the changes they made, planning on going through each class story until I get bored. Did a light side Sith Warrior for my first run, starting up my Smuggler now. Was wondering about the mirroring because I want to balance my advanced class choices, ie going tank warrior sith, then dps warrior jedi, healer smuggler, dps imperial agent, etc etc.

I was reading the official forums and was amused at how many people were upset at how casual/story based the game has become, when that stuff is exactly why I came back and bought a sub. Love the increased xp that allows for story driven gameplay.

Another question cause I am a little obsessive compulsive... there's no way to clear alignment points, right? Say if I have a light side character and picked a dark side option, no way to get rid of those points? I know in the end it doesn't matter, not that many things care about alignment, and you can always balance it out by just getting more light side points, but I'd really prefer it if it said "Dark Side: 0"

There's no way to easily clear alignment, but if it's something that is important to you, you can pick up Diplomacy as a trade skill and run missions that give you dark side and light side points, and you can always run Black Talon (Imperial) or Esseles (Pub) and make dark side/light side choices.

Really though, it REALLY doesn't matter.

You can actually clear them. If you have say 50 DS points and max LS points, any more LS points you get will work to clearing away the DS points. So if you now went and did something that gave you +50 LS points your meter would read LS: whatever the max is and DS: 0.

Oh okay cool, this is good to hear. Really my biggest stressor when it comes to games like this is doing things that would prevent me from being "optimal" given enough time. From what I've seen, game seems really good about not having "choices" that cannot be corrected later (except for the conversation/romance stuff.)

I will most likely not touch any serious end game stuff or things like that, but I do like knowing they're there and I have the option of it if I want to. The 4.0 changes really do seem like they successfully made this game a true "Knights of the Old Republic" sequel with pretty decent MMO content available.

Remember you can always go through the story with more than one character pretty easily. Leveling is so quick now you can literally do 1-65 in less than 20 hours played.

So you could do, say, a Dark Side Assassin, then a Light Side Sorcerer to see both sides of the Inquisitor story.

Its actually not too bad to achieve, i sat down for 3-4 hours or so infront of a western or two and ran my SI from dark 2 to dark 5 just doing diplomacy and black talon runs (also gave me a buttload of companion rep). And diplomacy while doing other stuff makes it trivial to do without having to sit down and grind it.

Sure, and I might do that eventually, but for now it's a lot more reasonable for me to plan out doing 8 story playthroughs instead of 16.

More questions cause I'm here, could you do heroic flashpoints with just two players and two companions? Seems like you could roll through every tactical flashpoint with that setup, curious if you could manage the heroic stuff as well. Gut tells me no, but it does seem like "Operations" are the big things that they actually care about and are supposed to be a challenge. Really I should just go do some reading on what the end game of this involves, cause I really have no idea.

Not anymore. Back when there were level 50, 55 and 60 Hard Mode flashpoints the Hard Mode 50s could easily be solo'd and the 55s could be duo'd. Now all flashpoints are scaled up so even tacticals can't be solo'd easily.

does it actually change anything about the framework of each story, though? after doing a light side sith warrior run, i am fairly confident i know exactly how the dark side one plays out (less talking more murder)

KOTFE is a direct sequel to SoR so once you start it (you can start KOTFE at level 60 regardless of where you're actually in) you can't go back and do Shadow of Revan. Once you start KOTFE the game essentially marks the "main" storylines complete.

Another question - my wow guild all quit and subbed to swtor with me because we beat the last raid tier of that game many many months ago and all burned out until Blizzard releases something new. We want to raid on swtor, what's the best way to get into it? Story mode raids at 50+ for experience and gear, then go into hard mode at 65?

Yeah, Story Mode raiding until you're fully geared in 216 SM gear w/ set bonus at 65 then you can start doing HM raids. Eternity Vault and Karagga's Palace are a bit more forgiving for gear so once you're halfway decently geared I'd run them once a week if you have a regular raid group to get easy 220 raid gear.

On fresh characters I've been hitting 65 midway through Chapter 2 (at the point I'd have been mid 30s before KOTFE went live) if I use XP boosters and do planetary/class story quests along with heroics at the start of each planet. It's so much better than it used to be and with how absurdly strong companions are now you don't need to replace your gear as frequently, either.

You can definitely go back and do the hutt cartel and SoR after KOTFE. I accepted them from the console on my ship the same way I did kotfe. You just lose the splash screens explaining where you are in the story. Unless I'm just completely mistaken I definitely went through the Darth Marr and Dread Masters stories after kotfe.

I don't recommend that path I just accidentally did it so I know it's possible.

Darth Marr doesn't have a story, he's a part of a bunch of them. Dread Masters are Oricon which is not locked.

SoR was definitely locked after starting KOTFE when it launched, but maybe that's changed.
