Caught up with the thread, and the clusterfuck that is Parp Shitizen.

I put a sizeable amount of money into Elite: Dangerous, mainly for nostalgia reasons as I played the gently caress out of Elite and Frontier, and I've been a little frustrated at how Elite has developed over the past couple of years, in that it's still a very shallow game.

I believe the phrase is "a mile wide but an inch deep."

Still, I'll take that over "an inch wide and picometres deep."

Aren't we all Derek Smart around here.

In all seriousness, from a distance it seems like Derek is a typical developer. That is, hardly able to see things from the viewpoint the average user. The shop I work at has 30 developers, of which at least 20 are unable to imagine why stuff they make is horribly user-unfriendly and/or terribly confusing because it makes sense to them. If you limit your target audience to people who don't mind battling your software (ie. redefining what your average user is :-)) and get by, all the power to him though.

It's the same thing that I have. They are clear indoors, and auto-tint (due to solar light) when I am outside.

A shot is the actual espresso made by the machine, and pulling a shot is the action of forcing water through the grounds to make the espresso.

Because the conditions for actually getting what some people would call an "acceptable" shot of espresso are so dependent on the variables (grind, tamp, time, and temperature if your machine lets you gently caress with that) it also is affected by things like humidity. So when the ambient humidity increases you need to adjust things like grind (push a little coarser) and pull time. Some people think you should adjust your tamp, but IMO tamp should always stay consistent.
