Hey everyone, remember that God's not Dead movie from before? The creators have just released a trailer for their next movie, which is again showing the supposed reality of how atheists treat Christians. Try not to look at the still image while it loads, it's better to let yourself gradually realise how tasteless they plan to be. https://youtu.be/bI8LYSAUZCU

Watching that dog poo poo trailer again, it makes me dizzy with all the weird random poo poo they threw in. Apparently they threw in a disabled guy to this school shooting biopic about a pious woman. I can only guess that they will throw in a spurious scene of his mother saying "he's such a blessing, and to think I was going to abort him!" The whole part with jumping into the water saying "you aren't spiritual or anything right?" Is going to show how love can bloom even without premarital sex!

It'd be wrong of me to not bring up this production companies movie Old Fashioned. It's billed as the Christian alternative to 50 shades of Grey. It's about a man who fears being alone with any woman he's not related to for any period of time for fear they'll inevitably have sex. He gets a new tenant, and forces her to slowly give up her life, her independence, and any ambition she has in life other than having children. Then he marries her in the baby food Isle of his local supermarket, which is the first time he kisses her - on the cheek. It's supposed to be romantic.

It's honestly kinda fascinating. It's like looking at the world through the eyes of someone who cannot comprehend any use for having a relationship with a woman other than to marry them and have kids. I'm thinking there's enough here to make a seperate thread, but on the other hand, all these movies are just adaptations of awfully vectored macros.

Lemma posted:Another actual email. Of course I'm not reading the whole thing, but I did skim a particularly cute bit about how the famously weak 18th century British navy took to disguising their ships with 'Murican flags to scare those evil Muslims away. Also probably something about how evil African Muslims took slaves, unlike the honest people of Europe and North America. Behold: As a 2-minute summation of what's wrong with this fairy tale: - yes, the US sent Naval forces to depose the ruler of Tripoli for demanding tribute... and to then install his deposed brother who would presumably treat us better. - yes the US sent some Marines out to fight, but it was like literally 8 Marine officers, and they hired several hundred mercenaries in Egypt and hiked across the desert to Tripoli's territory. Said mercenaries were also more than half Muslim, the rest Greek mostly. - despite the song, they never got as far as Tripoli, they got into a battle at the town of Derne, managed to win, and before they could march onward they got the news that the Tripoli pasha had conceded to US demands in exchange for being left in power. So hooray and return to base. It is actually a cool story, a classic ripping yarn, but by no means some grim and apocryphal war of civilizations. Plus it's pretty absurd to be all "abloobloobloo Muslims didn't respect other nations sovereignties" during this time period where Europeans were happily sauntering around most of the globe overthrowing brown-people governments. Not taking any moral stance, just noting that what Tripoli was doing wasn't particularly unusual by standards of the time, it's not like the Brits wouldn't have gone apeshit if a ship from the Chinese Empire or some African kingdom had just sauntered up the Channel minding its own business.
