I'm just happy that they played Kim Smoltz. That should have been in the rotation a long long time ago. They should have broke out Pass The Bong though. That would be amazing to see/hear. https://twitter.com/GeneWeen/status/699391681209040896 Also, I'm no audio engineer so I don't know how great this is but it sounds better to me. I combined two different tapings of night 1 together, here is Big Jilm. https://instaud.io/jhx https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jvCQdL01qGo That smile on their faces. Got back yesterday and I'm already depressed. The first night we sat just behind a dude who made a Boognish mask. He covered it in reflective tape to make it shine for photos. It was lit up with flashing LED strips. My friend pictured below with the dude wearing the mask: What it looked like to be in the front of a 6,000 person long line: Super fun shows. Super fun town. I miss the poo poo out of Colorado already.

The line on that first night was insane, but luckily moved pretty fast. I regret not getting tickets for nights 2 and 3, but oh well. I can hang onto the bootlegs and hope for an official release. Didn't see any pro cameras but fingers crossed for a soundboard release one day.

I blew my big ticket concert load for the Denver shows. Besides, Ween is the only group there I care about seeing. I wouldn't mind seeing My Morning Jacket but I won't be upset to miss them. It would be interesting to see how Ween does now that they've got three shows under their belts. They had a couple noticeable lyric/timing gently caress-ups in Denver so I imagine they'll be a little tighter by the time the festival rolls around. Also, I'm too old to put up with festival nonsense. I desire soft seats and overhead coverage for concerts these days. I'm pretty much done seeing them unless they start doing normal city tours again and come to my area.

Deaner said he couldn't wait for the next show, I think they're in rare form. There were a couple fuckups in Denver but actually surprisingly less than usual, I can't count the times I've seen them just stop and restart a song cause they hosed it up and that didn't happen. NYC is going to be bonkers in April, I hope the weather is good by then.

Philly show announced for August 21. I'm only a few hours away but the timing is bad for me unfortunately. I hope they keep expanding single-night tours. I'm in the DC area so if they come here or Baltimore I'll be able to see them again.

I bought new speakers for my stereo and a copy of Paintin' the Town Brown this weekend. For real, I want to take all these lameass white guys who buy the stereo components that cost four-five figures apiece, take away their boring records and force them to listen to the half-hour-long Poopship on their super-high-end systems.

Paintin' the Town Brown is so good. Mountain Dew off that album is one of my favorite recordings they've ever done. It's everything I like about Ween wrapped into one song. My first real exposure to Ween was Little Birdy played through a 12" sub in the back of a car. That opening bass note Going Gets Tough also has some mean bass if I recall correct.

I went fishing with Deaner about a month before Gener broke the band up in 2012, and he said their touring approach going forward was probably going to be just playing multiple nights in fewer cities, which seems to be in line with what they're doing now, so they'll probably end up doing a couple nights at 9:30 Club in the not too distant future.

Somebody fed me some some shinfo about Ween and Prince having made an album together that got put away in Prince's big ol' vault, I was a bit disappointed to find out it was not true. The story Dean told to Rolling Stone about being tossed out of Paisley Park was kinda funny, though.
