So I guess it's not as unlikely as we'd like to believe. No I think it's pretty god drat unlikely. A singular Canadian province enacting a law does not indicate widespread gender-based abortion in the west. In fact it doesn't even indicate it's presence in that province because it only means that the threat is perceived, not that it is real.

So I guess it's not as unlikely as we'd like to believe. The issues in Canada are largely due to immigrants who come from countries with lots of sex-selective abortions. Western cultures don't have those kinds of problems, although we helped create them in Asia by promoting abortion and tying humanitarian aid to population controls. So yeah. Yay us.

I wasn't arguing that it was likely, just that it was something that happened in civilized countries, counter to the post I was quoting. article posted:Canada’s pregnancy specialists and the nation’s radiologists are calling for a halt on using ultrasound for the sole purpose of determining the sex of an unborn fetus. Sex-based abortions are entirely legal, of course. The underlying research showed that for Sikhs, the third child after two girls was twice as likely to be a boy as a girl. 1.4x for Chinese, Japanese, Korean immigrants; 1.9x for families from India.

What happened to music? On August 1st 1981, MTV launched. The attention shifted from the art to the artist, and from the sound to the image. Soon the airwaves were seized by sexy girls & well-coordinated boy bands. Empathy, social awareness and rebellion were replaced with self devotion, vanity & ego. Eventually MTV would stop broadcasting music videos and instead replaced them with reality TV shows, proudly preserving and glamouring the ignorance & arrogance. Ever wonder how music lost its soul? He's my monogamous sex-chef and designated driver. Outside of the Something Awful Dot Com Forums, terms can pass or be borrowed from one vernacular to another without it being some kind of ironic, mocking affectation. Which of course would make it Cultural Appropriation!
