I met a guy on the IndieGoGo abuse team the other day and asked him about the gills. He unironically replied with "do you think it's impossible that a company wouldn't be able to do this?" and "if you don't like it, don't pledge"

I told him he'd be responsible for the man on his death bed in the hospital because he trusted these fuckers to water out of lungs.

you really think people are going to kill each other over a thing that will never exist?

yeah it's pretty great

one of the nice things about scuba is that even the low end stuff is usually really well made, because the companies know that almost any equipment failure can be a contributing factor to someone dying and you getting sued into nonexistence. odds of kickstarter scam artists producing kit of that quality are effectively zero

their entire concept is LOX cylinders jammed into motorcycle grips and micropores.

And before they got called out it was just the micropores part.

and still people are giving them money

Any kind of breathing air stuff is Serious Business because bad air (like wrong mix, etc) isn't something the human body really gives you warnings about. It's like we evolved with the assumption that air is a known good and haven't got any good mechanism to detect otherwise. Bad air is deadly but doesn't smell funny or anything, etc.

yeah, i think i remember hearing that your drowning reflex is triggered by too much co2, not by too little oxygen. so if youre on a plane and they lose pressure thats why the mask comes out and they tell you to put it on right away, because you'll feel fine right up til you pass out

and speaking of hydrogen sulfide, it's really smelly in small amounts, but as soon as you get up to "rapidly fatal" quantities it kills your sense of smell so you don't notice it

Hi Oded, thank you for the support, so for the gases it is oxygen that you will breathe in, we going to deliver your Triton with a safety strap we are still developing it and we will release the images of it when it is done, as more accessories that makes Triton easier to handle will come with time, right now all of our focus is to finalizing Triton so we can start to deliver it in time, one of our main task to do is the solution to have the liquid oxygen on a aircraft, Have a great day

I can do you one better I can give you a science experiment he can do at home. have him stick his head in the ocean and breathe in a lungful of salt water. if he can't get enough oxygen from that breath of water then he won't get enough oxygen from that thing

yes yes but microfibres mean its just like fish!!! also it comes with a tank of liquid oxygen which should be a bit extra, right???

It would rely on filtering out the dissolved oxygen; make them think about the volume of water it would have to process to let a human breathe comfortably during exercise, and how much little air tanks could contribute.

haven't they updated it to just using liquid O2? which has its own set of issues
